Hello civicX member.

Wondering to upgrade open air intake (HKS new racing suction / K&N open intake / PRL Cobra CAI) or stay with stock filter box add with replacement filter like BMC & K&N.

My car is 1.5 T civic. Non Si.
CVT automatic transmission.

engine mods:

PRL intercooler kit (chargepipe etc)
Catless Downpipe
Full exhaust system with resonator.
HS coil japan ignition spark
HKS spark plugs MR45HLZ
Oil cooler
ATF cooler
Oil Catch tank

tuning with hondata / custom tune / ktuner
with daily boost between 18-21 psi.

any suggestion for intake / replacement filter for my 1.5 CVT civic?

thank you very much, respect.

PRL Cobra or 27WON. Those short ram style just end up sucking hot air and do nothing for you other than sound. Unless that's your goal.

is ok to upgrade with PRL CAI for Cvt car? the HKS Short ram is included heatshield in the package, but not full box / shield like K&N and misminoto.

I had the Mishimoto previously, full box vs. partial enclosed is not a big difference. Still worse than true CAI.

PRL no problem on CVT. Si and Non-Si versions are available.

Given the mods you already have, the only choices I see are whether you want the race MAF or not.

PRL already has one available. 27won is due for wide release anytime.

I'd go race

OP, you mentioned you were thinking about the HKS intake with that foam mushroom filter. IIRC, those flow great but filter like $hit.

I'm running an SRI. My temps are great. They come up a tiny bit faster when idle, but there limiting factor, power wise, I have seen is how much the turbo can breathe. OP already has fmic upgrade so sri/cai doesn't matter that much

I've run SRI's on other cars and you're right, on the open road temps aren't too bad. But in city stop and go, heat soak is noticeable. On the other hand, for sheer sound.. . 10 out of 10.

Also, the OP being in Indonesia, that's a pretty warm, tropical climate.

OP, be mindful that we have frequent floods so PRL may be risky. Temperature averaging between 33-35 C during the day and traffic could be bad. I suggest keeping the stock airbox and just do drop in filter replacement. I'm using Sprint filter because it is easier to maintain as it is a dry filter.

However, if you tune for sound, I would suggest using any form of cold air intake or hybrid such as Mishimoto, MST, or PRL CAI. Do not get race MAF if you don't have access to tuner who can tune for race MAF. 27Won will not fit your engine unless you take out CVT cooler.
