  1. Road Trip MPG

Took a week-long trip from Maine to Virginia, including the gorgeous Shenandoah National Park, Fredericksburg, Williamsburg, Mount Vernon, etc. Also stopped at Gettysburg, PA. Took lots of back roads and two-lane scenic drives, so the trip was probably 50% Interstates. Incredible mileage and...
  2. $4,530 for 0.5 liter?

No No No! You're wrong. Look at the Honda site. Accord Sport Model. 1.5 Manual vs 2.0 Manual. No 10-speed auto or goofy CVT. No power seats, Remote Start, etc. that this guy claims. READ and compare, if you can. $4,530 for a different engine and minor gearing changes in the...
  3. $4,530 for 0.5 liter?

Getting Closer... Honda could hardly charge $4,530 for the 2.0 in the Accord without a similar hit to Civic Si buyers for a similar upgrade... which would have pushed the price point of the Si well beyond what Honda could sell in any volume (compared to cross-shopped other brands and their own...
  4. $4,530 for 0.5 liter?

So What? Honda's production costs for the 2.0 Turbo are immaterial to the buying public; and I said nothing about that. What Toyota's costs for a Camry were ten years ago mean absolutely nothing here. Nothing. Did you look at the BUILD-PRICE page, and check out the specs? The differences...
  5. $4,530 for 0.5 liter?

Anybody see the Build & Price page for the 2018 Accord Sport; with your choice of the 1.5 liter Turbo or the Type R-based 2.0 Turbo? https://automobiles.honda.com/accord-sedan?#build-price The premium charged for that extra 0.5 liter is $4,530. No wonder they left the 1.5 in the Si! = = = =...
  6. Coast in gear or in neutral?

I've got a '17 EX-T (6M), and I coast in neutral all I can. Note this is a Manual (I would never bump into neutral driving an automatic!) Efficient? Well, the car is rated at 31 city and 42 highway, right? My cumulative mpg (some 10,600 miles) is 43.5 mpg in city, rural and Interstate...
  7. Manual transmission rare?

I sure love my EX-T Manual! It's got a classic Split Personality... I can't decide whether it's a sporty, fun-to-drive car with great mileage; or a very well-equipped "economy" car with a hell of a lot of power! I'm happy with either version. But to address this specific thread, it was...
  8. Econ button 2017 civic turbo

I've got an EX-T manual; and do like the ECON button for highway cruising only. I don't mind a bit that the speed drops a mile or two or three while going up a hill; it comes back to the set speed soon enough without pinning the gas to the floor. Around town, of course, ECON feels like you've...
  9. Broke the 50 mpg ceiling!

With cruise control on, I do use the ECON button. When I'm really driving, the ECON is off because I can really feel a difference in performance. Premium should bump the horsepower a bit, but I've not seen much difference in mpg's. Real Gas definitely make an mpg difference! Search...
  10. Broke the 50 mpg ceiling!

U.S. Gas. 87 Octane! (With up to 10% corn squeezin's) When I drive west in two weeks, I'll do my best to use 100% real gas; which is often 91 Octane. I expect it will be better then!
  11. Broke the 50 mpg ceiling!

Drove my EX-T 6-speed manual to Quebec City for the weekend. Highway speeds average 65 - 70. AC was on most of the time. Limited driving within the (very hilly) city. Average mpg 50.6. Photo taken when I was back in Portland, ME. Looks like a range of some 563 miles with this tank.
  12. Civic Si press reviews (dates and links) compilation

You Get It! Though the performance is quite nice. Yesterday I was on a twisty Maine back road, slogging along behind some clown going 35 - 40 in a 55 zone. When I finally had the chance to pass, I dropped to 3rd, TROMPED the gas and blew past them. I was going 78 and laughed out loud...
  13. Civic Si press reviews (dates and links) compilation

I am quite happy with my EX-T 6-speed manual. Had the Si been a 2.0 liter, I might have been tempted to wait. But in truth, I prefer the more comfortable tires and suspension, would be embarrassed to drive a car with that silly WING on the back, and I have no boy-racer fantasies of ever...
  14. New Si Videos: Driving, Sound, Interior, Track

Not sure how the crappy synth sounds of fake music are supposed to somehow make these videos "exciting."
  15. 2017 Civic Si on sale tomorrow, Saturday May 13! Starts at $23,900

Car Dealers! Manufacturers design and build the products, then have to turn them over to Car Dealers to sell to the customers. It's a crazy system. Manufacturers spend a fortune on advertising; and the best ACTION they can hope for is that a potential customer will open the door and walk...
  16. 2017 Civic Si on sale tomorrow, Saturday May 13! Starts at $23,900

You're too used to that truck, Bubba!
  17. 2017 Civic Si on sale tomorrow, Saturday May 13! Starts at $23,900

I bought a manual EX-T the first of February. I'm happy for those who waited for the Si; but I remain delighted with my choice. According to the Civic tuners, my engine's getting about 190 hp on regular, and I'm running 93 octane, In addition, on a 75-mile trip yesterday, I scored 53.4 miles...
  18. Can I get to 50 MPG?

Took a 350 mile trip from Maine to Oneonta, NY last week. Mix of Interstate and hilly two-lane roads. Got 47.8 mpg; using E-10 gas! Filled up in Albany with Real Gas (Premium 91 at Stewart's); but the return trip was bad. Rainy and it took 90 minutes to go 30 miles around Boston. Only got...
  19. Honda Reveals 2017 Civic Si Coupe and Sedan (205 HP / 192 LB-FT)

Yeah... I've got to wonder how that works. Must be parked in neutral, brake on, for it to work. (This seems like a weird feature to me anyway.)
  20. How to enjoy sunroof?

Here in Maine, the Moonroof is fantastic! Lets in good light all winter, and fresh air the rest of the year. I've owned 6+ cars with moonroofs, and want this feature whenever possible. In fact, I had a Saab 9-3 Convertible and believe it or not, I missed the extra light from a moonroof when...
