Octane rating deals only with the tendency to detonate. Ignition systems advance the timing until just before the onset of detonation, so will handle anything at or above the minimum specified. Detonation is sensed acoustically.
Higher octane fuels might also have other desirable additives...
Keep in mind the proper torque, which you'll find is surprisingly low. I believe these are threaded into an Aluminum head. Natural tendency is to way over-tighten. Use a torque wrench.
When any car throws a rod, it's almost always due to rod bearing failure. Rod failure is a symptom of a rod bearing problem. Focus rightly belongs on the bearings. A stronger rod will only delay the inevitable slightly.
That relatively minute amount of material passing through the engine, is harmless and of no consequence. If used as intended, CCs add an unnecessary maintenance item. Thanks, but no thanks !
I've been driving since summer 1962, hate touch screens and avoid them wherever possible. My passengers use the knob without a bother to me. To each his own ...
The knob ( I have it on my base '16 ) is completely intuitive ( everyone's been using them all their lives ), AND I believe is intended primarily for passengers and NOT the driver. When they need to use a cell or whatever ( e.g. increasing volume for a favorite song or for an important message...
Catch can and oil pressure gauge totally unnecessary. If they were important, Honda would have incorporated them in the stock design. Catch can adds a maintenance item.

I suspect that Honda's recommendations are more stringent than applicable to practical reality.
I ask again, since it wasn't answered before, just how does brake fluid "fail" ?
I've been driving for well over half a century. In days of old, no one would dream of changing brake fluid. You just topped up with a quality fluid as needed. I had an '04 civic that was going strong that I just traded in, and it was never done. Same with an '01 Prius after 15 years.
Headroom !
I'm 5' 10" with a 28" inseam, and sit very tall.
Most cars, when I sit up straight, I touch the head liner. In the Civic, I've got more than an inch clearance.
