  1. Met a wonderful, atypical CTR owner today...

And I'm too far away from 50 for my liking, because I'm way past it!
  2. Met a wonderful, atypical CTR owner today...

Late this morning I was walking home from yet another failed attempt to get a COVID vaccine, when I saw a nicely-dressed older woman helping someone out of a blue CTR into a wheelchair. I peeked into the car, expecting to see a younger driver, but nobody was in the driver's seat. At that point...
  3. Did anyone consider the Accord Sport 1.5T 6MT

I don't know about the spare tire or fuel issues, but I liked the Accord's shifter. I didn't drive it back-to-back with the Si, but my not-so-reliable recollection is that the Accord's shifter has slightly longer throws, and the clutch is a little heavier. The Si has a very light clutch, which I...
  4. Considering trading for an Accord Sport 2.0T 10AT

I agree the Accord Sport, at least the 2.0 MT version, should have an LSD and adjustable dampers to make it like an Accord Si. As you said, it doesn't compete with the hot Civics and, just as importantly in the big picture, it doesn't compete with anything from Acura either, because they've...
  5. Honda should have made an Si hatch

I think an Si hatch would be great, and I might prefer it to the sedan, largely because it's shorter and thus easier to park in the city. I might actually prefer something like the Sport Touring hatch, but with the Si engine, steering, dual-mode suspension, and LSD. That would be a more direct...
  6. Motortrend tested the 2020 civic SI

Interesting. My old 2001 Saab 9-5 Aero was exactly like this. We live in the city, so I spend lots of time in second gear, and the Saab's tall second was really annoying. My Acura's gearing is so short that I'm often chugging around in third.
  7. Motortrend tested the 2020 civic SI

I haven't driven the 2017-19 and 2020 back to back, but when I tested the older ones, they felt relatively gutless at low speeds. I didn't have that reaction to the 2020, and I wonder if it's because of the gearing. Doesn't seem like 6% should make that much of a difference in feel, but it would...
  8. New All Season Tire Option

Having grown up in CT and lived in Philly for 30 years, I largely agree with this. When I first had my 2001 Saab 9-5 Aero, I bought a set of winter tires per the advice from Car & Driver and others, but found they really weren't necessary. In fact, I got through a massive Midwestern blizzard...
  9. What would be a worthy upgrade after the Si?

In your price range, consider the Genesis G70, especially with RWD. If you can splurge for the V6T, do it. The 2.0T isn't as good as the 2.0T in the Accord, but of course the Accord can't match the G70's RWD dynamics.
  10. Aftermarket lumbar support that works with Si seats?

Hello all, my 2010 TSX now has 121k miles, and I'm seriously considering a Civic Si sedan as its replacement. I've driven a few, most recently a 2020 sedan last week. I loved it, but the lack of lumbar support is a bummer, and I'm used to very good support in my TSX. So, has anybody found an...
  11. Did anyone consider the Accord Sport 1.5T 6MT

I've tested the Civic Si and both Accord Sports with 6MT. I've also driven the Sport 2.0T with the 10AT. I agree with the others that the Accord Sport 1.5T isn't worth it unless you really need the space. Since you wanted the Civic Si initially, I suspect you don't need the space, so done and...
  12. What if the Si was offered with an Auto/CVT transmission?

I agree, and the 8DCT in the ILX and TLX is an excellent transmission that would be great in the Si. I recall reading that Honda has tested the 8DCT with the 1.5T. I don't know if that combo is available elsewhere (China?), but obviously we haven't seen it here. I totally embrace the spirit of...
  13. Civic Sport Touring 6MT vs Si

I'm glad this thread popped to the top today, because I've been mentally comparing the ST Hatch with the Si ever since I learned the ST Hatch is available with 6MT this year. I would prefer a hatch overall, mostly to reduce the car's length for street parking here in Center City Philadelphia...
  14. What do you think of Subaru, especially the Forester?

Somewhat old thread, but I'll chime in because last year we bought a CPO 2016 Forester Premium. Subarus are a little pricey, but the Forester offers good value in the Premium trim level, which is just one level up from base, but is decently equipped. Ours has a huge moonroof, satellite radio...
  15. Ever surprised by who you see driving an Si?

I think that's right. Also, some older folks gravitate toward cars that are inexpensive, reliable, practical, and SIMPLE. They don't want complicated infotainment, for example, and generally want to avoid hassle associated with their cars. And, with kids out of the house, they don't need an...
  16. Ever surprised by who you see driving an Si?

I've seen several young women in Philly with sport compacts like the Si, MS3, and WRX, which is very cool. One had her WRX painted purple, and it was awesome. In the current generation Si specifically, I was most surprised to see an elderly couple cruising through Philly in theirs. They had to...
  17. What do you guys predict the 11th gen Si will be like?

I've been thinking about this too, and in the U.S. some of it might depend on whether Acura introduces another ILX. If not, I could envision a slightly more luxurious Si variant, whether another trim level or an option package. Otherwise, I think changes will be incremental. Maybe a little more...
  18. Refreshed 2020 Civic Si

I've been thinking about the 2020 changes, and the shorter final drive ratio might have been implemented partly to reduce turbo lag. If the rpm increase more quickly, the turbo should spool up more quickly, and it should feel stronger at lower speeds. This would cure one of my main issues with...
  19. Refreshed 2020 Civic Si

I'm not into the enhanced engine sounds, I don't care much about the slight cosmetic changes, and I'm not sure how I feel about the shorter final drive. But otherwise, I like the changes. I wanted Sensing, the LED lights seem like a plus, and the black wheels would be great for me because I...
  20. One more Manual Transmission gone

Totally agree. I've read Toyota may introduce a less expensive four-cylinder Supra, and if that happens, hopefully it will be offered with MT. With the Mazda 6 ditching MT, I think the Accord is the ONLY mid-sized sedan available in the U.S. with a manual transmission. All the other MT sedans...
