  1. Does your manual hold the car on an incline without parking brake?

No. definitely have to set the parking brake no matter what gear it is still in. No big thing for me cause I'm used this in manual Honda Civics. Learned that from my 2005 civic which would roll even on almost flat surfaces.
  2. Crazy difference in MPG in different weather (1.5 turbo)

Someone in the past stated that MPG will decrease about 2.5% for every 10 degrees F . So here in Wisconsin at the extremes of 90-100 F in the summer and -20 F in the winter I should expect a 25-30% drop in MPG. And indeed I am seeing that. In the summer I can get 52 MPG on my...
  3. Rolls on very slight incline when in gear 6MT

yes. You are reaching. All my civics were ordered and had low single digits for miles when delivered. Really doubt anyone had taken them for a "joy ride"
  4. Rolls on very slight incline when in gear 6MT

I would rest easy. You did not get a lemon. Over the years (now 65yo) I've had many manual transmission cars. My civics were the first that would roll when in gear and the engine off with no parking brake. I learned the hard way with my first civic as I had never before used a parking...
  5. Rolls on very slight incline when in gear 6MT

I'm sure he means parked car.
  6. Rolls on very slight incline when in gear 6MT

From my experience over these past 12 years it is normal for manual civics. I've gotten into the habit of ALWAYS applying the parking brake.
  7. Rolls on very slight incline when in gear 6MT

Absolutely true with civics at least. Have driven manual civic
  8. Civic or Hybrid

My previous car was a 2005 Civic Hybrid. Ran it for 315K miles and was averaging about 50MPG over all those years. Got my 2017 EXT with MT this past December since the hybrid battery died and the car was rusting fairly badly. So far, given my driving style and commute, I am getting...
  9. What did you do to your Civic today? (II)

While your oil change interval will not cause you any problems, it's totally unnecessary. On my 2005 Civic Hybrid I changed oil every 5000 miles. After 315000 when the hybrid battery died, the car was still running like the day I got it. Given that history and with what Honda recommends...
  10. 1.5T 6MT mpg?

Totally depends on your driving style and type of commute. I have a 45 mile one way commute on country roads (no freeway, no traffic). Been getting around 52mpg this summer. That drops to about 47 during our Wisconsin winter. I would love to see if I could get that in a CVT but I do...
  11. Glass damage - Anyone replace the windshield glass yet?

It was aftermarket but I've noticed no problems at all. The windshield was by some company called QuietView.
  12. 5000 Mile Service?

I used to go in for service religiously every 5000 miles. (can't hurt right?). But with this last car I asked the salesperson about service intervals and he said that they only choose the 5000 mile interval because tire rotation is supposed to occur every 10000 so that makes calculation...
  13. Glass damage - Anyone replace the windshield glass yet?

2017 EXT was less than a month old when it took a small rock and a 12 inch crack developed. My insurance company told me where to go to get it replaced and paid for the whole thing. Didn't cost me a cent as long as I went to the place they designated (a local known glass replacement company).
  14. I am confused... Shifting Gears at a low RPM?

You'll probably get a number of different OPINIONs depending how people like to drive. My OPINION is based on how I've driven manuals all my life (65yo now). I've driven civic manuals since 2005. Basically, I shift at rpms around 1500 to 2000 depending on speed needs. Merging into...
  15. Damn you MPG ..

I know lots of people believe that but just like in post 46 where they are getting good MPG immediately, I too got great mileage right off the lot. 1st fillup in January was 47mpg. Now 8 months later I'm getting over 50. But that increase is probably due more to temperature...
  16. Did you want the CVT, or settle for it?

I understand much of what you said. I think there were two major points that led me to continue getting manuals. One. I keep my cars for a LONG time. Over 300,000 miles on my last civic. I am pretty sure no CVT will last that long. And the replacement of a CVT is VERY expensive...
  17. Did you want the CVT, or settle for it?

For the 2017 models Honda actually increased the availability of manuals with the addition of the EXT. IMO, they didn't offer it in enough trims. (Put an order in for one the first day they were released and it took 3 months to get it but am really, really happy with the car.) I also...
  18. 1,000 miles on 20 gallons... Not too shabby...

My last two range calculations that show on the dials after filling up have been just over 600miles. I've been getting low 50's MPG this summer. But my 45 mile commute is almost completely rural 2 lane roads at 55mph (gently rolling hills) with no city driving. (17 EXT 6MT). I'm...
  19. 1,000 miles on 20 gallons... Not too shabby...

Yup. This car can easily beat EPA est Definitely. While I am averaging 53 MPG on my commute this summer. In the winter here in Wisconsin it drops to about 47 MPG on the same commute
  20. 1,000 miles on 20 gallons... Not too shabby...

very easy to get with steady, non-city driving. I'm averaging low 50s mpg on my commutes
