Between John Vega and DRob, these are the only hands that would touch my car's ECU lol.
I agree, John has seen hundreds of these cars with very similar configurations...but, me personally, I'd want to know that my car is happy. Living in CA and suffering with the "gasoline" we have here has...
I've heard good things about this tune, however as with any OTS maps I would at the least pay for the log review to see how the car is behaving. But, at that point it just makes more sense to just pay for an E-tune. Many will argue that a close to stock car doesn't necessitate a custom tune...
I'm potentially looking to sell. I'm in Roseville, so I'm fairly local. PM me if you want details. 2019 CW, Clean title, 2nd owner with extended warranty and a few basic mods. Just hit 30K miles, so it's pretty low miles.
So when you change oil, are you able to disconnect the electrical line and unscrew the adapter to drain oil? Curious as to how complicated this setup makes maintenance.
Yeah, from the stock photos it looks like the Mishimoto cooler has a 1/8 port on the side. Funny thing...I was looking at the MAP cooler but didn't like where it was positioned...then when I was pricing out the Mishi cooler, I found a deal on Amazon for $371.00. It was pretty much a no brainer...
Good to hear, I have a semi-dedicated track car that is in the middle of it's build as we speak...so the FK8 will primarily be a street car. However, it stays in the 100s where I live during the summer so I'm trying to fix some of the cooling issues before it becomes a problem.
How are you...
Curious, did you do the hood and grill at the same time? I'm installing the same grill this weekend and have been looking at a Varis style hood. From what I've been reading the grill has a pretty huge impact...which makes sense...more air = more cooling. Just curious to see if you could tell...
Awesome that you guys got into this platform. Question, for those of us living in CA...with an otherwise stock car, would I be able to leave this turbo on the car with a stock tune for smog time? I'm assuming if not beaten on, it would probably be fine correct?
It seems water intrusion is an issue even with the cover in place. That being said, after inspecting my own, it appears that it is just a visual dress up part rather than providing any kind of protection. If anything, it holds more heat in above the valve cover...although it doesn't have any...
I would tend to agree with this, but I've seen many "careful" drivers go off at Thunder Hill that has very few walled sections and a ton of runoff. The problem is that runoff has a lot of loose dirt at times that can cause a rollover in the event of getting 4 wheels off. I personally witnessed...

I forgot to mention that part. One other thing to keep in mind, there aren't much in terms of gains to be realized above E70...running 100% ethanol is more of a convenience thing rather than more power. I ran 100% ethanol in my GTR most of the time simply because of the cost of the...
Since it's not really possible to run 100% E85 currently in these cars, just be prepared to play chemist at the pump when you fill up. I believe the limit currently is E40 with the upgraded fuel system from Hondata...but I'd prefer to wait until a true FlexFuel (pump and go) solution is...
Well, I wouldn't say completely out the window. Depends on how deep down the rabbit hole you go. An FBO car with conservative tuning on a stock turbo setup should be just as reliable as a factory car IMO. When you start going big turbo and Ethanol fuel...then you're really rolling the dice.
So it seems like the initial failure was fairly "mild" from a hardware/software standpoint. You mentioned overheating, were you seeing that a lot near the end?
Well, when you take this 1 failure...and then when other failures similar to this one pop up and they are the same failure...then you have common point of failure. It's called collecting data over time.
