Technically, the car would likely "run" on an automatic ECU. But there are a lot of systems specifically for the CVT that the ECU would be looking for.
The CVT is controlled by a separate transmission control module (TCM)
For the wiring harness, 99% of it is the same. Some of the pathways...
I could def be wrong because I've checked so many different wiring systems so in depth BUT - I checked all the pathways for parking brake wiring and they seemed the same.
Also Its one of the areas I did the least amount of searching into. The brakes work and parking brake engage and...
I suppose you missed the part where I mentioned this car has sentimental value to me.
I knew there would be a few haha.
To be honest, if I didn't have to figure out so much on my own I truly Believe this isn't any harder than swapping a trans in an older car. I agree with you - as the price...
Will do!! And thank you!
Many thanks! You nailed it, the satisfaction of doing this swap + the fact that not many people have done it. It's nice taking on a unique challenge.
Upgrading the gears is something I absolutely thought about. At times I wish I would have, but I decided to set a...
**I will be adding pictures and more information about the install as I remember it.
**Please feel free to ask me anything, my intention with this is to help others where I can. Also if you're just curious, feel free to ask away.
ok, so i've been holding off on posting about this. at the end of...
chiming in to say try and find a bumper off a salvage car and run one of the rear trims that has cutout for single or dual tips. Only have to notch a piece of very thin metal to make it work.
Wish they all would have came like this from the factory! Probably one of my favorite things I've done...
I can't say for sure if your tires will clear but I imagine they would with that width and offset. Not sure if you have adjustable control arms but our cars have pretty significant camber naturally
I went from maxing out the rears with the rings in > taking both rings out and leaving the spring...
Front wheels are 18x10 +23
Rear wheels are 18x9 +26
Without a significant amount of camber in the rear you're absolutely gonna rub a lot. Currently I only rub a little bit on the inner lip on the fender. This is with 225/40 on a 10.
And for the front at +26 I have no clearance issues/rubbing...
Very interested to hear the difference between tunes! Not many people go through with this. Will be keeping an eye out for science.
In other news...
After spending several hours a day for like 4-5 weeks I have successfully added and enabled paddle shifting on my CVT
Im on revision 5 of tuning...
Double post to confirm I have this 100% working as of this morning. Who cares if it's a useless feature, I love it and I am proud to have figured this out when most claim it isn't possible or worth it.
My cluster does not display the "gear #" along with the shift position. But the function is...
I like taking on challenging things people haven't done before? I'm a computer science professional and I gravitate towards software /troubleshooting challenges like this.
Really fun learning experience overall - learned what Honda bin files are , how they work, how to decode them. How to...
Boys
I've come to revive a thread with good news.
This can be done.
You can extract .bin files, read and alter the data and enable the feature for paddle shifter. Using an openport 2.0 with pcmflash.
You do not need a TCM out of a sport model with paddle, or ECU etc.
Paddle shifters

Well, after reading through this thread I pulled the trigger and ordered the BB!
Pretty excited for that earlier spool considering I live in Philadelphia and half of my driving is stop and go
I learned something new today 😂 (not trolling, I really had no idea what that spot was, I just assumed I somehow got oil/grease on it)
My a/c has not worked since ~5k total miles and I haven't bothered to even take it in under warranty/look into it.
Thanks!
