I have the 19" OEM FL5 wheels and tires on mine. The speedometer is about 2mph more up to 90mph with that combination of size (265/30/19). I did notice a bit softer feeling when hitting bumps but the handling feels the same to me.
I kept the 20" wheels and tires and slap them on when I take...
Decided to pick up the Type R accessory floor mats. Didnt realize how red the stitching was on the ones that came with it. The Type R emblem is like a dark gunmetal color and the stitching matches the rest of the cars interior.
Here is a side by side comparison :
He does great work, Im waiting on my alcantara shifter wing blades from him. I have a streering core lined up and this would be my next upgrade.
Looks good man!
The Acuity guys came to Caffeine and Octane one time with their brand new Champ White FL5, cool people and Im glad they moved to our state.
Love your updates man, congrats!
Stuff is usually safe during the track day because everyone there is there for the same reason. They also probably leave their tools etc laying around while they do their laps.
Tough call on the tires, you dont want to be lugging those around and the hassle of switching them when you get there...
I think I got a great deal on it. Picked it up locally for $1500 and he even threw in the black lugs with wheel locks. Personally if it was higher I would have passed since it would be getting close to the cost of aftermarket wheels.
Being forged it should definitely be lighter. Id be curious to see actual numbers too.
For gaining an inch in width, i dont mind the extra weight over the FK8 wheels.
Picked up some FL5 OEM wheels this weekend and got to mount them today. It does feel a bit better on bumps and I didnt really notice a loss of feel compared to the Fk8 stock 20's.
A little more meat
I also weighted them because I was curious on the difference
FL5 OEM wheels & Tires =...
I guess those were just the wheel weights.
FL5 stock wheels with tires --> 51.6 lbs
FK8 stock wheels with tires --> 50.4 lbs
Still not bad for an inch wider tire.
Looks like its slightly lighter since its 19", from my search FK8 stock wheels with tires weight at about 30lbs and FL5 wheels and tire weight 26lbs.
Ill weight them both when I switch to verify.
Your mileage may vary, someone is selling a set on the for sale forum for $2200. I picked up a set of FL5 wheels and tires recently for less than that.
For $2200 you start competing with some aftermarket 18" forged wheels.
