To be clear - OEM is a 7440 with 2 wires. The 7443 has 3 wires. Once I tested to know which wire was which, I wired the 2 for "turn signal" directly back to the 2 x OEM wires. Then I grabbed the +12V line feeding the reverse socket (IIRC it is lime green - GND is BLK) and tapped that to the 3rd...
Finally ran the "rear fog" wire. Huge p.i.t.a.!
I needed a +12V line switched with the fogs. There are several options but they all run from the very front of the car and need to be at the very rear...fffuhhhh. :[
I chose to attack the same Body Control Module (BCM) lines which naturally...
The sockets were straightforward. I just cut the OEM sockets out (left a few inches in case I need to put them back one day) and soldered the new socket wires on. 3 wires per, with shrink. Then I cut open the OEM loom and taped it back up to stay tidy. That was the "easy" part. Running the fog...
Converted rear turn signals to 7443 (dual filament) sockets from stock 7440 (single filament), added Amber/White switchbacks and tied them in to the reverse lights... so now I have 4 white reverse lights to try to overcome the tint a bit better late at night. Works pretty good. Not as much as I...
Flashpro, beeatches... niiice! Finally scored one, awaiting delivery. Just need to keep telling myself that $25 CAD per alleged 1 HP increase is a good deal for this.
:D:oops:
Same - I forget my phone in there 99% of the time because it is hidden and a p.i.t.a. to get out after the car is in park. Otherwise, a handy spot to leave it so I don't try to use it... :D
Car isn't with me, going for a long shot so I can order stuff while at work... :D
Anybody know off hand if the REAR TURN SIGNAL socket on the hatchback (probably same on any) is a DUAL (7443) socket with 3 wires coming out the back or a SINGLE (7440) socket with only 2 wires coming out the...
Test-mounted a simple "Rear Fog" LED solution as was originally (afaik) mentioned here by Ocelot.
I was worried the dual-color LED might have crap for white, but it's fine as you can see, all three white-LED selections look basically identical as reverse lights (Auxito, MAXGTRS and the new...
I know this is an old bump, but I had to credit this idea. I initially was going to do the LED-as-Lower-Rear-Reflectors mod and use the driver side one as a rear fog, but now I'm looking at a Red/White switchback in the back-up socket. Super clever idea, thanks!
2021-10-30 EDIT: Posted the...
Brilliant, bro! And the sequenced signals being in sync like that (same speed, I mean) they look factory - I had to check twice, thinking those WERE factory Touring headlights, but somehow with a sequential signal. Very nice.
RIGHT!!? OK!! YES... finally, proof - it isn't just me thinking this! I truly believe COVID has depleted the humanity from some people - I am seeing the same insanity all around me (I drive a lot, every day...) and felt certain it was well beyond my normal, "Dude. Really...? wtf, guy...?"...
Someone call me a waahhmbulance, Haha. Bro, I'm paying CAD equivalent of about $4.60 USD / gal for premium (ours says 91 but I think is called 93 in US math) in Ontario (1.53 CAD/litre). :D
I'm on the same fence. Looks good when I see it on other people's whips, just not sure it suits "me" on mine lol. Thinking about going "black reflective" to split the difference.
