Mine developed the same noise. It took me a while to figure out what it is, but pretty sure it's a faulty AC blend flap continuously hunting for position. It is a common problem that has been documented elsewhere on this forum. Supposedly an easy diy fix but I haven't bothered with mine yet.
My stock tires wore the exact same way with about the same mileage. I had it aligned when replacing with PS4S in OEM size and found there was significant toe from factory... don't remember if it was front, rear or both. Set it to zero toe with camber at the higher end of spec and so far, so good...
Is the stock wheel/tire setup on the FL5 really any better for street use? I understand how that combination could be an improvement on the track, but I don't understand how decreasing the diameter on a 30 series tire is going to lead to a better experience daily driving.
Not the Type R, but I have run black painted steelies without covers for years on my previous Hondas. It's not pretty and the hubs will show surface rust almost immediately, but never any problems for me. They salt the roads pretty heavy where I am.
How about the recall announced earlier this week for air bags affecting only the 2021? I haven't seen that one mentioned here yet.
This is the first recall on my 21 and will be the first time it goes to the shop. My wife's Passport is also part of the same recall but her's has already been in...
I recently had a similar symptom to what you describe on my older civic. It needed a new front caliper and wheel bearing on the same wheel.
Does either of the front wheels feel obviously hotter than the other after driving for a while?
The product link for those pads has review after review complaining about excessive noise for street use. Same with reviews on tire rack. It might just be the compound of the pad with not much that you can do about it.
For what it's worth, I pad slapped the rears in my 21 with Hawk 5.0 pads and...
I replaced OEM with same size PS4S. I have not been impressed with the steering feel of the Michelin compared to the OEM Conti, but otherwise it's a great tire. I wish I had just gone with the PSAS4... if I am going to sacrifice steering feel I might as well have saved some cash, get better...
I just took a quick look at my 21. The driver's door has a defect identical to your first picture... both the black film on the trim and the rubber window seal look exactly like yours. It's also sonic grey, so your photo is indistinguishable from my car. I couldn't find any of the other minor...
I would love to see more discussion from the community on this.
From my perspective... I have done the turkey baster fluid change on past vehicles. The baster obviously doesn't get the fluid that is currently right at the calipers, but the removed fluid is brown and nasty leading me to believe...
Rear brake wear might be even more pronounced in the Type R under certain usage cases due to "agile handling assit" (or whatever it's called), but rear brakes wearing significantly faster than the front has been a honda thing since abs. Rears wearing out significantly faster than the front has...
My fifth gen Accord LX went well past 200k on the original pads and rotors. My driving environment at that time was similar to what you describe.
Regarding my 21 CTR at 45k miles... the fronts still have a ton of thickness left, but the rear pads (and possibly rotors) will need to be replaced...
Obviously the situation will vary depending on which state you are in, but typically a rebuilt title is only issued on a totaled vehicle. If the insurance company totals the vehicle they cash you out at market value and ownership of the wreck transfers to the insurance co. Sometimes the company...
I had my second sighting of an FL5 today. While the design is more subtle than the FK8 it still stands out as a Type R even from a distance.
From the front the minimalist design of the bumper leads to an unmistakably wide stance and the lower grill of the intercooler is massive. I am so glad...
I saw a rando commenter (don't remember where) that claimed to be a relative of one of the chief designers of the Type R seat. The claim was that FK8 and FL5 have the same seat with a different skin. Could be some made up BS.
I had Michelin PS4S installed in OEM size at the local Toyota dealership. I believe the machine is a common Hunter unit. Install was perfect. The mechanic said he took it a little slower than usual but it wasn't a challenge.
That being said, I'm guessing it's a little easier to mount the...
After two years and almost 40k I had my first highway encounter with another Type R. It was a Champ White FL5.
There are so few sightings in my area I assumed I'd never even see an FL5 unless I tracked one down on a dealer lot. I didn't even realize any had been delivered to the Northeast yet.
