I believe that indicates the ac is on automatic... the compressor will run at the level needed to achieve the temperature selected, or will shut off completely if it’s not needed (cold outside).

Ah, thanks... that's very helpful. I guess my fear is that my experience (at least in recent years) with batteries going bad is that it seems like a very sudden thing... one day the battery is working fine, the next day it's completely dead. But if a load test will reveal a weakening battery...

This is not the 2016 EX-T that I replaced / re-aimed the camera (but it’s a hatchback, not a sedan)... hopefully it helps. As you can see, when the red line is on the vehicle in the other lane, it’s within a few feet of your back bumper.

I'm pretty sure the red line should correspond with the bumper (or maybe just beyond it), definitely not the center of the rear tire.
