I think you're right. I don't think it's the heat soak but I do think it's the intake. With my car, it seems the stock intake wasn't allowing enough air in and thus the car pulled fuel to match the lower level of air. Once I got an intake the LTFT got closer to -3.
@gtman Do you know at what kcontrol values is a good indication that better fuel is needed? Anything above .55? Mine was at .55 for most of the drive and went up to .68 after some pulls.
Im in CA so i actually cant get 93. I think what ill do is continue to monitor the kcontrol and ltfts until I finish this tank and if its consistently higher than .49-.54, ill add some E80 after my next fill up.
I got my ktuner a couple months ago and I first just data logged my car to see what the stock values were. I was surprised and concerned to see that my LTFT averaged around -10.2 and knock control was usually between .8 - 1. This is with the stock car and tune. I thought ok, the car is running...
ahh ok, I had a feeling that was the answer but wanted to double check. I just received the tune this morning and flashed it. Im loving the tune, has the smoothness of the factory tune along with the power of the ktuner starter tunes (im driving on map 2).
thanks for the input everyone. Going with the general consensus and after reading GTman's post, I decided to go with the phearable 1.5 since it seems to be the best choice in terms of smoothness and map 2 power. I went ahead and placed an order. I think ill just drive with the 91 octane and map...
I have decided that it is time to get an OTS tune and from months of research, it seems the best ones for the civic 1.5t non si are the tsp stage 1 and phearable 1.5.
I currently have a 2017 civic EX-T w/ 30k miles. The only mods I currently have are 18in niche wheels w/ michelin PS4s, ktuner...
Hey @gtman , I am interested in an OTS tune. I am considering the phearable 1.5 non si, non race tune. Do you know if its fine to run that tune w/ 91 octane (costco)? If not is the TSP stage 1 fine with 91 octane? Im in california so I dont have access to 93.
I plan to get the mishimoto intake very soon and I have the ktuner, currently running a 16, 19, 21 starter map. I am considering the phearable 1.5 tune but I am unsure of which MAF housing option to pick with the mishimoto. I emailed phearable and they just said that itll be like $80 to change...
Yeah thats my main concern, I dont want it falling out on the highway and wrecking someone elses car. I guess ill clamp them on as tight as theyll go and check them every few months to make sure theyre tight.
I have a 2017 EX-T sedan. I bought some aftermarket exhaust tips on eBay, these to be exact: https://www.ebay.com/itm/194166271349
I think they should fit but haven’t tested them yet. I will be putting them on this weekend. They are clamp on tips. Is there anything to worry about in terms of...
I read your ktuner thread and came up with this tune:
I dont know the difference between the improved vs aggressive settings so ill start with the improved and see how that works. I copied most of this from the 2nd tune you posted on that ktuner thread except I changed it so tune 1 would be my...
Thanks for the reply gtman and for encouraging me to just tune the car. Ive never launched the CVT, and dont plan to, but its good to know what do avoid. I didnt know launching a car in that way was a thing. I did notice that rolling before flooring it allows a much smoother start. The car is...
Ahh ok my route to work is about 10 - 15 mins with city and high way driving with a few opportunities for pulls. I think ill log in the morning on my way there.
I was thinking of logging for a bit then getting the phearable tune but I think im just gonna fill up with 91 octane tomorrow and try...
