Definitely difficult to get that price. I'm trying to get dealers to match the Orange County TrueCar Estimate ($19,800). I live in Torrance (Los Angeles County) so the sales tax is 9.00% and dealers have told me that with license/fees/tax and everything else I can get a strong estimate of my OTD...
Damn the salt here is real, if you don't believe her just move on. The TrueCar estimate for a Civic Sedan EX-T in Orange County is $19,769. With this price you can expect to pay an OTD price of $21,350 (assuming 8% sales tax which is the rate for residents in OC). From there negotiating it down...
Congrats on the car! I also hate that California has a [EDIT: 7.5% + County] sales tax rate. For me it's 9%. It's pretty much paying an extra 1/10th of the cars total value. I'm going to look at Cosmic Blue and Pearl White colors tomorrow, hopefully I can decide between the two!
I'm inclined to go with Norm Reeves just because they gave a good initial offer. I think through Costco the price at my local dealer was around $21,000 - 21,500 essentially leading up to $24,000 OT - so Norm Reeves is definetly cheaper than that. I'm going to make an appointment for tomorrow...
Thanks for the info, hopefully he beats the price.
If he beats the price I'll take it, if he matches it I'll just go to dealer A since they gave me the better price initially.
If I have a deal from dealership A and dealership B emails me saying "If you found a better deal elsewhere, I hope you will give me the chance to match the price or beat it", when I respond should I forward the message of the quote from dealer A, or just tell him what it was?
Do you think if I show up to the dealership I can negotiate their price down by $500? Or should I just want for another offer from different dealerships until I get something decent enough?
She said Norm Reeves Honda (Irvine) earlier. I got a quote of $20,475 (excluding taxes and fees) from them for the EX-T without sensing - they said it would be around $22,500 OTD for me. I might take it since that's the best offer I've seen so far.
I'll update you guys when I do :). Through another thread I found out that Norm Reeves Honda has really good and competitive prices. You might want to see if their offers intrigue you. They also have really good reviews (4.7/5 on Google) so that's a major plus.
I emailed them and got a response from Brad Mugg. Hopefully he gives me a good deal. Did they give you the OTD price over the Internet or did you have to go there in person? In my experience you usually have to show up at the dealer to get an OTD price.
Thanks again for the response :).
Thank you so much for the info! I was about to go to Scott Robinson Torrance Honda and pay just below $24,000 OTD for the EX-T. There is a Norm Reeves in Cerritos and Irvine, I'll check out both of em :)
