  1. My A/C took a poop...*Dealership update*

Where are they even getting these consumer reports from? I don’t trust that any figures from these surveys are accurate unless they explain the process used in selection of consumers. The fact that of the 4 Honda owners I know in the 16-18 years, three have AC issues and the 4th may have it or...
  2. My A/C took a poop...*Dealership update*

Mine is the evaporator, apparently, and it was $445 diagnostic charge. Definitely a stupid reason to lose almost $500 and I will never buy another Honda again after this.
  3. My A/C took a poop...*Dealership update*

My hissing sound was LONG like 2 mins long and now it's just gone. I don't hear it anymore (pre recharge). I think that's the hissing sound people are referring to. It's like a low frequency whistle.
  4. 2016-2018+ Honda Civic AC (Air Conditioning) System Issue

That's really unfortunate. Fill out a car complaint and since it's not the condenser (as you already had it replaced) maybe it's the evaporator or something else. Sorry to hear that man.
  5. 2016-2018+ Honda Civic AC (Air Conditioning) System Issue

Posting this here for others who will undoubtedly come across this problem or already facing this problem. I own a 2018 Civic Si Sedan. From the posts and comments I've read here, model pretty much doesn't matter because they all experience the A/C issues. As far as I've gathered, there are...
  6. Air conditioning issues? went out on brand new civic

Luckily in the diagnostic they also recharged the refrigerant. I will buy a can and do that rather than replace. I’m guessing it’ll be at least a year because I’m certain that the leak was occurring very slowly. That’s why mileage doesn’t matter as much as time. Most people had it happen nearing...
  7. Air conditioning issues? went out on brand new civic

That’s really (un)lucky. Wish my AC issues were immediate. It’s crazy to think that this dealerships technician is telling me that every 100k miles you have to pay 2k dollars to drive the car with comfort.
  8. Air conditioning issues? went out on brand new civic

It’s 103k miles. Wish it was miles based but I’m almost certain just based on the mile ranges here and time ranges it’s based MOSTLY on time. Since it went 100k miles working just fine then it just stops working. That and the fact that the condenser issue puts it at 10 years unlimited miles...
  9. My A/C took a poop...*Dealership update*

Seems like it’s time, not miles that causes AC to fail. Mine failed at 100k miles. Haven’t really used AC all winter though so I probably just didn’t notice it. I’m never buying a Honda again after this though. 445 for the diagnostic because of their own fault. It’s not the condenser but the...
  10. All the Issues With the Civic Type R and How Honda Is Fixing (One of) Them

Don’t own a Type R but I have the 2018 Civic Si. It’s been grinding since I first bought the car. I thought maybe it just needed some miles because I’ve never owned a brand new car. Wish I lemoned this piece of junk in 2018 and went with a used car that was more reliable. Learned my lesson the...
  11. Air conditioning issues? went out on brand new civic

My quote is 445 diagnostic 1551 for the evaporator replacement. Bull fucking shit that this is how they handle their own failures. I will never buy a Honda again. Been driving Honda’s since I started driving 7 years ago. This was the first new car I bought. Drove a CRX, RSX, 8th gen, and now...
  12. 2016-18 Model Year Air Conditioner Failures

It’s terrible we have to wait to see if they’re going to give us our arm back. If I had to pay 450 for a diagnostic but KNEW the problem would be fixed, I’d be all for it. Since I have to pay and know it won’t be fixed, I have no reason to believe it was worth the arm or the leg.
  13. 2016-2019 Evaporator failures/leaks

I would say the probability is 100%. Mine failed about a month ago. Was hoping it was the condenser that would be covered but I had to pay 445 for a diagnostic fee since it’s the evaporator that failed. Another common issue but Honda won’t acknowledge that it’s their shitty system. Honestly will...
