  1. Refreshed 2020 Civic Type R, here it is!

Another variant of the R is in the works; I am expecting a possible Chicago Auto Show reveal. It is very possible that this is the Acura S concept, however. The CTR picked up some minor refreshments, none of which will be looked down upon on. The grill update was almost a necessity as it has...
  2. Q: How to pick up my new CTR in winter??

If you are simply getting it home, that is one thing. Driving it in the winter however is a different story. You run a risk either way, however. That said, there is some absolute awful advice in here, most notably from those who indicate they are from a warm climate and likely have no...
  3. One Lap of America Planning

I just spent a few min with Travis, super cool guy. I am looking forward to meeting Greg (Banshee) and his Mrs. this evening. There are a few other celebrities driving as well. I believe Rutledge from Top Gear will be with TRD, and the guys from RoadKill will be participating as well.
  4. Anyone else struggle for traction in cold weather?

I hear they are very chewy.
  5. Anyone else struggle for traction in cold weather?

^^ This ^^ That said, think of any summer tire (which the factory tire is a summer tire) as a snickers bar. When its warm, it is pliable and sticky. Freeze that same candy bar and it becomes slick and brittle. Your tires are no different. The tire industry recognizes summer compound tires to...
  6. Type R Wheels

    I missed that discussion, obviously.
  7. Type R Wheels

All great benefits if you plan to autox in a stock class. I would be interested in knowing the difference in full 19" tire/wheel combo weight compared to the factory 20" wheel/tire combo weight. In the factory 20" size, you can save 2 pounds per corner by switching to the Michelin Pilot Sport...
  8. Type R Wheels

The factory wheels are built by Hitachi Racing and are flow formed, which is cast process that offers near forged strength. BBS is said to have pioneered it for formula motorsports, including Formula 1 but I don't believe that anyone has taken credit for bringing the process to the marketplace...
  9. Hondata Flex Fuel upgrade - 265 hp and 285 lb-ft on a stock Si

It is also states: "No tuning required. Just plug in, fill up and go" ...so to anyone with -0- tuning experience or know how, this would indicate that no tuning is required, including a flashpro tool since a flashpro is in fact tuning the vehicle. Not arguing the fact, just simply stating what...
  10. Hondata Flex Fuel upgrade - 265 hp and 285 lb-ft on a stock Si

Fake news as this is not the case. You still need a flash pro tool to make this work. I asked the same thing a few posts back. Sorta misleading if you are a complete novice to engine tuning.
  11. Hondata Flex Fuel upgrade - 265 hp and 285 lb-ft on a stock Si

Got it. I knew it sounded way too simple. I played with tuning long ago; chrome primarily. I don't think pump e85 was even a thing at that time. Anyways, I have been out of the 'tuning' scene for quite some time and read: Unlike manufacturer flex fuel systems, the Hondata Flex Fuel upgrade...
  12. Hondata Flex Fuel upgrade - 265 hp and 285 lb-ft on a stock Si

So I am going to ask the stupid question because it seems so very simple to do. In addition to flashpro, you can convert to e85 and gain that much power by simply adding the Ethanol sensor? Or just simply add the ethanol sensor and gain the power, no flash pro necessary?
  13. Jonnys_honda Civic Type R FK8 Build

    That steering wheel looks great!
  14. Any reason why there are so many Type Rs for sale?

I don't disagree with this one bit. I also don't understand those who will spend $45-50k on a Civic R with the other options at the same price point. Paying more than MSRP for a used car is even more crazy to me. That said, to each their own.
  15. Any reason why there are so many Type Rs for sale?

As I said on FB, it's like getting sloppy seconds but paying more than the first person did.
  16. Any reason why there are so many Type Rs for sale?

Why are people paying more than MSRP for a USED car?
