In my troubleshooting with Metra it was suggested to test with time alignment off. It didn’t help. Echo was still present. As soon as I removed the DSP and plugged the factory amp back in the issue went away. Metra was only able to midigate the echo through their testing by lowering the volume...
I really don’t expect the Metra to improve beyond where it’s at now. My impression was that with the echo issue Metra had reached the only solution they though was necessary in adjusting the gains to the point where you couldn’t hear the person you were talking to if the car was moving.
As far...
Yeah I just feel that when you loose all of your ability to set most of the vehicle settings including things like alert reset that most people won’t want to make that decision.
I understand all of that and the iDatalink products were something I looked into as a replacement for the Metra. But all of that means nothing right now if a solution isn’t available. Clearly the member that I was responding too wasn’t aware that replacing the unit for now is impossible.
The unit in the car is an Android unit. Regardless you will loose features from the car that can’t be replaced with any aftermarket unit. Many vehicle features are controlled from the head unit. You can’t replace it.
The problem exist over Apple CarPlay which doesn’t use BT. It is also an issue with Android Auto as well but BT is in use there.
It was suggested by Metra that TA may be the source of the issue but I tested without it and the problem was still present. I even reconnected the ANC module to see...
Last I talked to Metra before I sent it back they weren’t able to eliminate the echo with a firmware update. Clearly something in the amp is doing this and it is not duplicated in the Axxsess device. Or at least in my case. YMMV.
I was told that several issue had been addressed based on my...
An update:
Well guys it’s unfortunate but the echo issue introduced with the DSP was a deal breaker for me and it has been pulled and sent back to 5 Star Car Stereo. So if any of you still want to try this out they have one to sell now. YMMV from mine.
Also I’m selling the amps I had for this...
I’ve decided to go another route and sell these amps that I’ve had for only a couple of months. I have 2 of them for sale. These are micro amps and are about the size of a check book and about 2” deep. They are supper clean with 90 watts rms x4. 80 bucks a piece or 150 together shipped.
This thread discusses what’s required to bypass the amp. But if you’re trying to replace the head unit in your car you are wasting your time. A lot of the vehicles functions are controlled by the head unit so it’s really not practice. But much info is in this thread.
Regardless of if there is analog as well as digital output from the headunit and if I was wrong in my statement. As it stands now, if you want to bypass the factory amp to achieve a true premium audio system in these cars, this is the only product that allows you to do such without hacking up...
Well it’s a 10-12 speaker system so unless you can find a multichannel amp to supply that many channels you’re going to have to use as many amps as it takes. I’m using 8 of the 10 channels in my car across 2 amps and a powered sub. So I have 3 amps in my car.
