  1. New to tuning, what parameters should I be monitoring and also numbers to watch for?

Sounds like a good start, it can easily become overwhelming reading about all the values in these forums and sometimes make one worry more than required. If you start with a tune, glance at your values so you are familiar with them and then as you add parts over time simply check in and make...
  2. New to tuning, what parameters should I be monitoring and also numbers to watch for?

You seem to grasp the general idea of what the parameters do and what values are normal. If you're doing the usual bolt ons these values should be within the ranges you've mentioned but sometimes stuff breaks or wears which cause values to change, like ltft or stft for example if your injectors...
  3. To tune or not to tune ,that is the question!

Since its a 2017 and around its last year on factory warranty unless you bought additional warranty, I'd say tune and never look back, car will be as reliable as you treat it mostly.
  4. Si vs touring

Seeing you are from Canada as myself, my 2017 with 30 000km on it is a rattlebox as is but even more in the cold haha, you just get used to it considering the price of the car. Perhaps newer models are better, I can't speak for those. But interior is still better than a majority of cars in its...
  5. What’s your most loved/hated thing about your Si?

Agreed, hear it from alot of brands, my buddy owns a mk7 golf R which is alot more expensive yet has the same problems so it seems to be a govt/environmental reason.
  6. Phearable 1.5 R

I do agree with you on a majority of things here that you're saying, but in all fairness even the OEM box with the regular Base tunes from ktuner have been toying with people's trims at times. If you take a look at the reliability survey there are plentiful of people on these forums running OTS...
  7. Phearable 1.5 R

Yeah man, most likely the normal range considering your weather and setup if its been consistent. At the end of the day these OTS tunes are cookie cutter tunes trying to be as optimal for as many cars and conditions as possible, can't be the exakt same for everybody.
  8. Phearable 1.5 R

Depends more on your maintenance and style of driving, if you hit 26 psi everyday compared to the previous tune, then naturally your car will wear faster. I drove the original 1.5 tune for 9000 miles with zero issues, since I barely hit 26 psi, this tune is about equal in terms of reliability...
  9. Phearable 1.5 R

Yours doesn't go back to 0 once you start driving? What intake are you running, if any? If it stays -8 it's within ok range but still kinda high, mine drops to 0 within 5 minutes or less.
  10. Phearable 1.5 R

Sorry for the long post in advance. Heres my small review of the tune in comparison to the original 1.5 phearable tune for the si's which I drove for about 9000 miles. I have about 150 miles on the R tune now after cruising around testing it out. Ok so first off, hats off to John Vega...
  11. The Tuned CivicX Experience & Reliability Thread (for all models)

Tuning update* Vehicle: 2017 Honda Civic SI sedan (Canadian model bought used at 7400 miles, untuned. Mileage: 19 800 Total tuned time: 6 months Total tuned mileage: 12050 Tuned mileage since last update: ~7500 Tuning device(s) used: KTuner v2 Tunes used: Current: phearable 1.5R tune with...
  12. Phearable 1.5 R

I picked mine up last night with the discount...odd, try emailing him.
  13. Phearable 1.5 R

Totally agree with you overall here in the world of business. But in this case and in my experience both tsp & phearable are both pretty active on these forums with replying to members or posting info. If they suddenly just start competing to bump power without concerns for reliability they'll...
  14. Phearable 1.5 R

Agreed, new torque curve on the tsp+ is slightly lower around 2500-3000rpm. I believe these guys have everyone's best interests in mind in terms of reliability otherwise you'd be left with alot of dissatisfied customers as a majority people are OTS users it seems like. I just think its like you...
  15. Fuel Trims Advice rough idle

Ok gotcha, my LTFT goes back down to 0 at normal driving after maybe 5 minutes, if you're at -10 -14 you probably have a different problem like injectors as mentioned.
  16. Fuel Trims Advice rough idle

Most quick forum searches show that stft will swing wildly depending on load and condition. On 27won blog post about it they state "You can expect max positive and or negative values under certain instances like flooring the pedal and heavy throttle lift off for example". I have the exact same...
  17. Fuel Trims Advice rough idle

Stft will always fluctuate alot as it shows what's currently going on and LTFT is long term values, what does your LTFT look like at idle compared to normal driving?
  18. Fuel Trims Advice rough idle

Hey! Can I ask you what your numbers look like at idle? I have the same mods (race maf) and phearable tune with LTFT hitting -10 after maybe 5-10 minuted of idling but drops down quick when driving. Only thing I have is a injen hydro shield which I'm thinking might restrict my air flow a little.
  19. What’s your tuned mpg?

Yea California is expensive for everything. I’d gladly pay 3.50 for 94 any day. What I do enjoy about California is we don’t have cold snowy winters or rainy seasons. But man it’s expensive haha I was gonna say man... atleast you don't have to drive your car through salt baths during the winter...
