UPDATE* Just got my car back from the dealer 2 days ago. New block and head. Main bearings were shot, cams scorred etc. Was covered under warranty. Tech said was definately caused by the oil. There was small metal bits in the oil and it smelled of fuel. The vehicle was a lease before I obtained...
Here's the thing though, idling or short trips shouldnt be an issue with any new car. If that was the case, they would come with a window sticker "not for idling or short trips" lol. If oil dilution was the cause, they probably wont tell me. The master tech did tell me the oil was the likely...
I dont understand how they want me to drive for 2 weeks with such engine failure. If there is metal in the oil, could the turbo also be affected? Will it come with the new motor? Would you all ask for a new turbo?
Just got off the phone with Honda. Apparently block is on a 2 week back order so they are putting my car back together and tech said it is safe to drive..... I have been driving wifes car due to honda having all loaners out and they approved me for a 3 day loaner when parts are all in.
Im just overwhelmed by all this. I had an 03 EX for 14 years that all it ever needed was a vtec seal. A Marine I sold it to is still driving it around town. Will I basically have to treat it like it rolled off the lot with a break in period?
This was my issue free baby
They have no clue. When I brought it to them initially a few weeks ago, i told them the oil looked dark but they said go off of the honda minder. They couldnt replicate the noise so sent me on my way. This is how the oil looked this last time.
Well, im under warranty luckily. Im going to ask Honda to extend my 3/36 since it needs a whole new motor basically. Things can and will go wrong when they are putting a motor together. It comes in sections, top and bottom etc
I agree. Thats what honda is paying for the parts. They said the 2.0 is around 10k for the accord and the 2.4 is around 13k. Dem2757 was on point about the main bearings. What could have caused all this?
Oh. Update. They ordered the whole top and bottom because noise was coming from bottom main bearings, and there was tiny metal in the oil. Oil looked like it was 15k miles old. 7200 worth of parts. Oh, car was not abused before hand I beleive. It was a lease driven by an older lady.
Here is an update. The oil was very dark, 70% oil life on honda minder. The valves were loose, they were adjusted and noise is still present once car warmed up. They are ordering a new head, since there was some cam scoring and also on cam bearings. I was always easy on the car, thoughts on the...
Well, the sound returned on Friday and took it to Honda, they had me return Saturday and drop it off this morning. According to the tech, it may need a new cylinder head. Not sure yet as he is speaking to corporate on how to proceed. Will let you guys know what they find. Car has 34k miles.
