They got the dashboard right. The FK8 dashboard layout is horrific. Big props for the physical buttons too. Not a fan of the rear wing at all, looks like an ebay special. But if I didn't have an FK8, I'd definitely be interested in this
This is why I have kept my 99 Integra Type R with 70,000kms on it. It's not as fast as my FK8, but for sheer connectivity with the road, you can't go past the DC2R. It's a reminder of a bygone era. I keep thinking I should sell it and my 88 CRX (Aussie spec twin-cam), but I can't bring myself to...
For the money (AUD 50K-ish), I would expect paint that is as good as on my 22 year old Honda Integra Type R. My CTR with 10K kms on the odometer has more chips on it than my ITR with 70K kms on it. Both travel/travelled the exact same route. Our Odyssey has less chips and regularly does...
Bogan in a Holden VL Commodore Calais (RB30DET). Apparently pulled out of a performance workshop in Sydney's western suburbs. FK8 dashcam tells the story
He was nice enough to leave his numberplate behind.
I've gone through 3 windshields. Original had scrape marks that followed the contour of an active wiper at under 5000kms. My insurance includes one free windshield a year per car and it counts as not at fault. Replaced it but the windshield place messed up and supplied a non-OEM. Aussie FK8 all...
I've been through 3 windshields in 8000km. The original was scored by something under the wiper - a nice arc right in front of me. It was replaced by non-OEM. That lasted a week as there was bad distortion in the bottom of the windshield and the corners. It was replaced under my 1 free...
Probably not. A lot of the little thing such as rattles, paint quality, stupid tyre sizing etc leve me cold about the CTR. What I would buy is a Yaris GR at 40K AUD vs 50K AUD for the Civic. Money left over and the Yaris really is a better car all round and certainly better value for money (our...
Agile... agile is the word I'm looking for. Fast is fun, agile is more fun. The Civic is the former. The Yaris GR is the latter by comparison. If only the Yaris was practical as well.
I *like* my FK8, but I don't love it. 7000km into ownership and it has dashboard/tweeter rattles and buzzes, absolutely shithouse thin paint, and while fast, is nowhere near as much fun as my DC2R and DOHC CRX. It handles better, but it just isn't as much fun to drive, feels fragile and less...
No comfort pack. There is the base, which is the performance pack, and then there is the Rallye edition, limited to 250, which comes with all the additional goodies.
Definitely the stock pack. The upgrade didn't release in the first batch to hit our shores.
I really would like both in the driveway, and I say this as someone whose last Toyota was a '72 TA22 Celica that I owned in the 1980s.
I can't say that the body roll was bad when I drove one, it turned in beautifully. It wasn't as comfortable as the Civic, but it certainly didn't wallow, and the handling was tight. The Yaris has already hit Aussie race tracks... it's more than just a WRC homologation, it's a solid package all...
