I’m a manager in an accounting firm. Money for mods comes from the paycheck. My wife and I also have a setup like a previous poster where we each get to spend $100 per month without judgment. Just keep on saving my “allowance” until I have enough for the mod I want.
Warren makes Mag1 and a host of private label like Amazon, Super Tech, and Kirkland Signature. It’s a good oil, probably not as good as say Mobil 1, Pennzoil, or a boutique brand, but it has the certifications so it will do the job adequately. There are a bunch of UOA at BITOG that support this...
I was installing my PRL Stage 1 Intake. Left my screwdriver on the plastic piece at the front of the engine bay. Somehow I elbowed it or something and it dropped down the opening where the hood latch is. Fell down maybe two feet and got stuck between the intercooler and another panel. Had to...
Green doesn’t publish any efficiency numbers. That scares me a little bit, that’s why I’d not go with the PRL option. Haven’t seen that HKS filter before...looks legit JDM
Can’t really answer question number one, as I have no firsthand experience with the Stage 1. My secondhand information from a post made by PRL some time ago seems to indicate that the whole Stage 1 setup won’t give any significant gains over stock and is more for engine bay bling.
As far as...
Not sure if this has any relevance, but I just remembered this: Project Farm on YouTube did some oil tests, and in his tests, the oil went dark after being heated up only one time.
I’ve read on Bob is the Oil Guy forums that oil color on the dipstick is not indicative of its age or remaining useful life. But if it’s dark after just a few days, I’d be scratching my head too.
I’m also in the process of modding my Civic. I don’t have the 2.0 Sport, but I think the same order would make sense.
For me, I would start with an ECU tune (I bought Hondata, but KTuner is probably the better of the two if you aren’t CARB restricted). Most bang for the buck for sure. Next on...
You can’t hurt by following the MM but I know a lot of people like to change at 5,000 mile intervals depending on their comfort level, type of oil used (synthetic, blend, or conventional), environmental conditions, and how hard they push the engine.
In my opinion, do what makes you comfortable...
Can’t go wrong with most major oils (Mobil, Pennzoil, Valvoline, etc.). Personally use Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-20 with OEM filter. Be aware that the A01 filters have been discontinued and are difficult to get. Lots of fake A01s for sale on the inter webs.
