  1. Has anyone had BC rods fail on them?

Don’t know if it’s been said, Saenz rods have a more favorable big end. Much less block notching required to run them. A LOT less. I believe somebody compared the requirements for clearance cuts and Saenz blows BC out of the water in terms of being less invasive.
  2. Highest mileage 10th gen

105k on mine, its in the body shop currently. Works out to approximately 25k/yr It has 67k on a built motor though.
  3. [Findings] Civic Turbo Wastegate Actuator

Is that 4 pins all equally spaced, or is there a "missing" spot? I know most of the interior connectors are either Yazaki or JAE.
  4. [Findings] Civic Turbo Wastegate Actuator

Confirmed that the wastegate connector is a SUMITOMO 5-pin HV040 series part. I was able to depin the old connector after removing the secondary lock (gray plastic piece inside connector) and using a special depin tool. From there it was a matter of 1:1 transferring the pins (I took a photo of...
  5. [Findings] Civic Turbo Wastegate Actuator

I rear ended somebody (my bad). And the wastegate actuator and the associated harness connector cracked. As many of you know, the wastegate actuator isnt sold separately by Honda. Neither are connectors. The prevailing wisdom is pretty backwards, why cut off an entire plug to solder a pigtail...
  6. 1.5T Oil Coolers: The Fiasco

Electrical Engineer. I really like fabricating, even if I am not so good at it compared to the pros. Yeah, the 93 Octane is causing some really bad heatsoak. Ihave a check valve for the inlet side on order.
  7. 1.5T Oil Coolers: The Fiasco

Problem: Warm starts are DRY on oil for 2 seconds. This happens because the Setrab oil cooler is a bypass style, which forces oil to go through the cooler when the thermostat closes (activates). On a warm start the thermostat is closed AND the cooler lines drain out, causing an air bubble. BAD...
  8. 1.5T Oil Coolers: The Fiasco

I use a setrab with a built in thermostat. It bypasses the oil automatically with temperature and it built into the sandwich. I’m pretty sure they make remote-mount versions, but they add hose length. Look for the bypass style of course, Earls makes them. they’re like 4 AN ports or something...
  9. 1.5T Oil Coolers: The Fiasco

Which spacer? I couldn’t find any with a 72mm or less OD. And that’s what clears that lip. I use -10AN as well, although -8AN is probably fine. fire sleeve for the parts that can rub of course. I really like the thermostat because I live in a cool-ish climate and also run 0W-30, although my main...
  10. 1.5T Oil Coolers: The Fiasco

I believe its a lack of sales. People also incorrectly assume mounting it behind the emblem causes cooling issues. In my experience even obstructing most of a Setrab Series 6 19-row, the oil is cooled. These motors do not generate absurd heat, but the management of the heat can become an issue...
  11. 1.5T Oil Coolers: The Fiasco

Here is the turned down Setrab spacer on a junk L15 oil pan. Notice that stupid shelf on the left. that’s the J Hook that prevents a spacer from seating. The OD of the filter spacer must be about 72mm at this point to seat. This 72mm OD inset is about 5-6mm deep. Otherwise it just won’t seal...
  12. 1.5T Oil Coolers: The Fiasco

Let me preface this by saying my DIY Setrab 6series cooler with the bypass thermostat works flawlessly. Coolant temps have plummeted and the car doesn’t overheat when I push it beyond the big turbo envelope on 93 octane. I don’t use flex currently, which definitely makes the motor run hotter...
  13. Traditional Suspension Modeling for AWD for the FK7 and FK8

Seems like your progress is tied to me not having money. That rear end subframe looks clean
  14. Si 2020 Si 0 miles block build thread

52,000 miles later…. The motor still works! I am running into cooling issues now, which is due to the RV6 pushing 27 psi all the time. I’ve got some ideas in the works.
  15. The Tuned CivicX Experience & Reliability Thread (for all models)

UPDATE 6: 50 THOUSAND MILES BABYYYYYYYY. I need an oil cooler, the oil vapor loss is very noticeable on hot summer days at AutoX. Vehicle: 2020 Civic Si Hatchback (L15B7) Total tuned time: 20 months (motor) | 40 (total) Total tuned mileage: 89,000 miles (odometer) | 98,500 (transmission) |...
  16. 2020 Civic Si Cluster Swap

I haven’t even finished development. I am stalled out with work priorities. Basically I need to confirm my fix for the overheating issue (likely already resolved), and find somebody capable of making pigtail harnesses for the gauge connector.
  17. 2020 Civic Si Cluster Swap

The Sport ECU does not have a sport mode, so my translator uses the econ mode to visually change the gauges to sport. No effect on steering or throttle sadly.
  18. 2020 Civic Si Cluster Swap

On my MANUAL 2020 Sport Hatch, yes.
  19. 2020 Civic Si Cluster Swap

I use a go-between translator module. It works fully.
  20. Si 2017 Si Transmission into 2020 Sport Hatch

Yep! Been running it since late 2021 no issues. I ended up doing a Si trans and what you’ll need besides the trans is a driver side axle and a passenger half shaft. You can also do the passenger outboard axle because I believe it’s slightly more rugged. The LSD has a beefier axle and higher...
