  1. Poll: Remote Start Range

I'm surprised at all of the short distances people have commented. I seem to have no trouble remote starting from around 170 - 200ft away at my work's parking lot (haven't tried the chin thing yet either). Maybe the way the car is facing impacts the range? I always back in so that the front is...
  2. 2016 engine recall

If you're buying from a reputable Honda dealer, they won't even let you test drive the car if there is a recall. I wanted to test drive the CR-Z, but it was under recall, and even though they had one on the lot I could look at from the outside, they didn't even have a key to open it.
  3. Stolen License Plate

I put a tamper resistant plate cover on. It has a clear plastic cover to prevent thieves from stealing the date sticker, and hex screws with a circle in the center that make it harder to unscrew them (though I'm thinking of swapping them out with rarely used screws like the triangle kind used on...
  4. Cruising around town catching Pokemon lol

I'm 22 and I feel like this is basically the adult version of Pokemon. Kids are locked out of a lot of it, especially in more rural areas, because you have to travel to progress (things are spread out quite far in my city). On top of that, to catch certain types, you have to go to certain biomes...
  5. Cruising around town catching Pokemon lol

Yeah, I don't catch anything while driving; it's not worth killing someone or wrecking my car. I just keep it on like a GPS and take note of all the Gyms and Pokestops around town, as well as occasionally pull over to do one with an easy in/out on the way to and from work. There's a gym right...
  6. Frequent tailgating

I've sort of had almost the opposite experience. I was previously driving a pickup truck and would constantly get tailgated regardless of the lane I was in. I loved driving a few years ago, but when my new job required me to drive my truck pretty much all day every day, I started to hate...
  7. What little tips and tricks do you know?

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but on the center console on the lower part by the USB ports, there is a separated dug-in tray-ish area on the driver's side that is just the right size to stack quarters in. Was worried they might fly out because I only had a few to put in at the time...
  8. Brake Hold and Electronic Parking Brake Observation

I only use the brake hold in certain circumstances, like highway travel or on long trips where stoplights make for a good change to give my foot/leg a break, or at a drive-thru. Otherwise, I've noticed that if you're going around in stop and go city traffic, or you're trying to creep out at a...
  9. How immune are the 2016s to theft?

Good way of looking at it. They'll need a way to scan for your fob's talk feed, then clone it to a key. Your average car thief won't know how to do that, nor have the tools to do it. Those that do will probably just look for something worth over $50k. And ditto on the thief having nothing to...
  10. Is theft a concern for you?

I'm a bit worried about how much the car relies on the key fobs. If someone could make fob cloner and has a spare fob, they could pretty much have their own key to your car, and I've heard of such things existing and happening in parking lots. Best advice against that would be the standard...
  11. Regrets on Model/Options Chosen

I kinda regret not getting the Touring, as I would have liked the easy-access subwoofer to change out, as well as the nice LED headlights and the Honda Sensing. That said, the Touring model at that dealer was going for about $7k over mine, and they only had blue (I wanted Steel), so for $20,500...
  12. Car possessed (sometimes), door does not open with fob

Sorry, been a long day so I'm not quite sure I'm following you, but by orange parking lights turning on, do you mean the hazards doing a flash? If so, it's normal for them to do that when you close the trunk; it locks the trunk and I think locks the car as well. It may be that you've stumbled...
  13. 2016 Civic EX-L LED head/fog lights upgrade (night pictures)

Was looking into getting these but I read that LEDs/HIDs used in non LED/HID fixtures are technically illegal, and I really don't want to give the police any extra reason to pull me over or give me a ticket. I'm thinking of doing a light swap with the Touring's headlights though (though it...
  14. What little tips and tricks do you know?

You don't even have to use a pry tool like that to pop it open; I had success just wedging the tip of physical key in between those two plastic pieces and angling the key to pry them apart. Pops right open nicely.
  15. Brakes feeling mushier than normal.

Yeah, I noticed that whir difference, just saw that someone on the forum in another thread mentioned that brake hold used the parking brake, so thought it might be true due to the stiffness added to the brakes from both. Hahaha, hopefully at least! Yeah, if it gets worse, it's def going to the...
  16. Brakes feeling mushier than normal.

It seemed to be pretty sudden; my trip out I got caught behind someone who kept braking, and every time I braked to keep distance, it was annoying because my brakes were knocking my speed down too suddenly and I kept worrying the guy tailgating behind me would hit me. On the way back, I put on...
  17. Brakes feeling mushier than normal.

Hm, I wonder if maybe there was a glitch with the parking brake or something that randomly cleared up, then. From what I gather, the brake hold feature puts on the parking brake, and the parking brake makes the brakes stiffer. My friends rode in it on a trip about a week ago and both complained...
  18. Brakes feeling mushier than normal.

Will do, thanks for the tips! I've only had it for about 4 weeks, but I guess a problem can pop up at any time.
  19. Front bumper damage

Might have been an SCDOT truck. I live in upstate SC as well, and our local DOT trucks are total crap and loaded with stuff that isn't strapped down. Just today I was behind a DOT truck that had one brake light out and decided to turn without using a blinker (though that was probably out too).
  20. Brakes feeling mushier than normal.

Earlier today, as I was driving between work sites, I noticed my brakes seem to have more give to them. They used to feel incredibly stiff and solid, almost unwieldy in how stiff they were as it made them really touchy. Now they don't seem touchy at all. Did my brakes just break in, or might I...
