So far, all is well after 7500 miles. My advice, since this is the first generation CivicX, is to lease it and not buy it right away. My issue is that I've had two of the factory tires lose air pressure on the highway for no reason at all...I think it was just a bad batch of Firestones...not...
Car and Driver had this to say in their otherwise glowing review of the GenX..."Those dreaming that the Civic LX is a discounted VW Golf GTI in a less-boxy body shell are ripe for disappointment. While its powertrain is willing, the LX’s chassis isn’t enthusiastic about having a lot of fun...
When my mechanic looked at the left rear, he couldn't find any defects...so how did this tire just lose air pressure on the highway? My rims are brand new as well, so it's not a bent rim.
Well...I replaced the left rear and the mechanic looked at the original tire and couldn't find any holes...so I am keeping the original tire to show to Firestone...how did a perfectly good tire suddenly lose all air pressure on the highway?
On my way to New Jersey on Thursday, I blew a right rear tire (Firestone factory tire) and had to change it out for the donut. I had a mechanic look at the tire and there was a 1.5 inch gash on the bottom, so it was toast. I replaced it with a superior Pirelli P4.
On the way back to...
I used the website on Friday to make my car payment. The payment posted on my bank account on Tuesday (that is fine). Last night, I get an email that my payment is due. What? Doesn't their computer system know that I made my payment already?
I'm scared that the IT department over at Honda...
I notice when I accelerate from a traffic light, the status bar at the top stays green, even if I'm climbing a moderate hill. With ECON off, the status bar changes to white on a moderate hill.
So, after turning on the Econ button, I notice that the car is just a little more sluggish, but still quite driveable. Is anyone else using the Econ setting and if so, are you seeing any better gas mileage?
I'm getting great results, because I don't sprint off of a green light and I don't gun it like I'm Dale Earnhardt Jr. I haven't had the engine over 3K rpms and I doubt I ever will. I believe in babying a new car.
I know I drive like an old lady, but I'm getting amazing gas mileage out of my EX. My daily commute to work is 40 miles round trip and I just did a Monday-Friday last week on a half tank....and that's using regular, not high-octane gas! I'm also getting a consistent 41 mph highway...who needs...
I've had my 16' Civic Sedan EX for a month now...I love this car. I drive like an old lady, so my gas mileage is amazingly good. I'm getting 43 on highway and 40 city (I don't take the engine over 3000 rpms ever). My impression driving this car for the first time was, "This can't be a Civic!"...
Here's the email I received this morning from Honda...
April 7, 2016
Dear Valued Customer,
On April 5, 2016, some Honda/Acura Financial Services customer accounts were incorrectly debited during testing of our payment processing system. We have identified your account as being impacted.
We...
Most banks will refund overdraft fees for a situation like this...after all, it was not our fault...all we did was try to make our payment on the website.
Ok, I'm back after 5 minutes...now, they've issued another debit against the account and I'm back to three debits from Honda Financial and two credits. This is like a circus. If this keeps up, I'll ask my bank to block them permanently.
So here's the latest...this morning, my account shows the original debit, the double debit, a credit they issued to back out the double debit and now another credit. Does that mean they're backing out my original payment?
