Sorry should have taken this down.
Tossed it in the trash months ago now...
Trust me - you basically have to gut the interior to install it - just don't go there.
I actually found that the R wasn't the car for me at all... sold it a few months ago.
I liked it. I was proud to drive it. It was fast.
I didn't like the handling - it doesn't have torque steer but it doesn't have great steering weight/feel/feedback either.
I really hated the electronic...
I'm about as far way from you and still be in SC as you can get... Anderson on the GA border.
PM me if you want to PayPal me $25 and I'll get it out in the mail to you this week.
I was playing around with cooling modifications before I decided that the Type R wasn't the car for me.
I have this modified scoop left over.
Anyone want it?
I think I had about $125 in it...
I'll give it away but won't pay for shipping so make me an offer of $25 or more and I'll get it out to you.

Yep sure did.
Yep he sure did.
Yep Jzilla is a most awesome group of guys.
(can't say the same for the group I ran with last weekend...)
Speaking of which - be careful out there!
Run groups were packed, driving aggressive and everyone is a little rusty.
I'm in yellow/intermediate and...
Just sold the Type R and bought a race prepped 2009 Mini Cooper. Signing up for Jzilla half-day event on Thursday July 16th for a shake down run. Would love to have a seasoned instructor/coach along for the ride. If you know of anyone please let me know. Thanks
I need to get to CMP maybe even a SCCA Track Night event. I hear good things about it. I actually liked the RA1 over the 888's and I know the spec and series folks went back to the RA1 over the 888s.
I look forward to having R compounds again. And slicks for the first time no less!
IMO...
I'll check out the video thanks.
It will be a long time before I'm back at VIR again.
Looks like AMP mid-July to give the Mini a shake-down run.
Assuming all goes well there it gets dropped off for a full cage on the way home.
I went with 18X9.5 5-120 deliberately staying as close to stock...
Only real change was the upgrade on wheels and tires.
I would imagine the stock 20" stuff would be a total disaster at the track.
[Just IMO]
I got some understeer issues at VIR but that was because I was driving like an ass and coming to turn 1 way too fast and way too late.
They really have...
I can certainly understand that.
Yep - the trailer thing is a huge PITA.
It was much my reasoning as well - but - nothing like having a [lockable] home base in your tow vehicle. Not a huge fan of my pile of "stuff" sitting in the paddock under the pop-up in the sun, rain, cold, 100+ degrees...
Eats tires = no not really - I mean 10, 15, 20 track sessions shouldn't be eating a set of tires unless you are over-driving it or not monitoring tire temps.
Overheats = no not a bit - you can see my (several) other posts about that
Not caged = BINGO!
I want a race car to be visceral.
I want a...
Did two sessions at VIR on Saturday and called a day. The Honda Civic Type R is selling tomorrow... Have a deposit on a fully race-prepped Mini. My mistake - I found out that when I'm on a race track I want to be in a race car. And I'm old and I want the car to tell me what it wants not the...

Oh great - thanks - I just spit coffee out my nose.
I'd say you captured me perfectly.
I actually often use Grandpa Simpsons voice.
When I was young...
Yeah - actually I do!
Or a better balance between power, suspension and simplicity.
I looked for a real race car prior to the R but never did find anything worth a damn.
Miata's are great but (old) Miatas are slow and with a race suspension beat the living snot out of you.
You know 15 years...
But - the seat wiring is UNPLUGGED there is nothing "wrong" with anything.
There is no "fault" no "problem" no "error" it just simply isn't there.
Seems like they could build that into the fault recognition program?
And let's see: you can't rev it to set a shift light because it has a limiter...
Yeah of course you are right ---
Cut my teeth on VWs and Miatas and just find the overwhelming intrusion of electronic "protection" a bit annoying sometimes.
Just wanted to vent.
