Tinted my car with a Honda dealership's tint contractor and he scratched up my hatch door. Looks like the idiot used a screwdriver to remove the plastic panels. Sigh. Luckily he owned up and paid for the damages/repairs. Initially felt like it wasn't "perfect" anymore even after repairs...

I would prefer the textured side facing up and out from the wheel/ground while having the non-textured side facing the wheel and taking the pebble hits.

Try approaching dealers near the end of month as well. They may go MSRP to meet quotas

I would also say its helpful to start adding throttle when you’re at the bite point and beginning to release the clutch from there. If you dont want to add throttle like youve been doing, you could also hold the clutch at the bite point for another second or so and slowly release from there...
