  1. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

You remember correct. The second time this problem happened after it was deemed to be caused by engine damage via driver abuse, and replaced... the faulty fuel injectors (they replaced all 4 and the rod) that it had to begin with were swapped out under the extended 6 year unlimited mile warranty.
  2. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

What I’m assuming at this point is the faulty fuel injectors were responsible for the initial problem, yet the over rev code made them over look the extended warranty covered repair as a solution. It was brought in initially for the p0304 fix, which was not addressed whatsoever... I’m going to...
  3. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

The dealer did not do a compression test before removing the head, I took it home disassembled. I am going to have to get a new gasket, put it together and have it tested at a shop (not the dealer lol).
  4. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

So here are the heads of the pistons, anyone notice any sign of contact with a valve? I’ll get some pictures of the valves tomorrow
  5. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

If they didn’t, the build quality must be terrible! However I am pretty sure they re used everything possible.
  6. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

Based on the reputation Honda has maintained since they began selling cars in the U.S.A. I would hope to think you are right. To strengthen my case I am going to have a shop run a compression test on the original motor (which was not done the first time it happened, but just done on the new...
  7. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

Update: Turns out the fuel injectors were faulty and replaced under warranty (that I thought was voided from the over rev?) I am glad to have the car back so quickly, but quite mad at the situation. I was told my engine was malfunctioning due to the over rev and left to take responsibility for...
  8. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

It’s being towed over 60 miles to the dealer today and they offered to cover the cost of that so far. Moving forwards I’m hoping they are as generous when it comes to the repair bill. This time around I’m hoping there’s no chance for them to pitch the blame towards me and investigate everything...
  9. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

That was my initial thought when it happened the first time. I have had a hum plugged into the OBD port and at the time recently got a radar detector so I thought maybe having both plugged in started eating at the battery. As silly as it sounds considering the problem led to getting a new motor...
  10. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

If I could get my money back I would, but the new motor has been in for over 1000 miles now. The old one is sitting in the garage with an ever so slightly bent valve. The head is off, and the damage seems to be very minor. Who knows maybe it can become a new project at some point. Considering I...
  11. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

I paid what I had to in order to get my beloved civic back on the road under the impression that I had damaged the vehicle myself with an over rev. Stated in one of my update posts, I described the only scenario I can think of where an over rev could have occurred, months before the initial...
  12. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

Update: 6700 dollars later the car was equipped with a brand new motor from Honda (I’m still in possession of the old one too). Since I’ve had it back I’ve put about 1300 miles on the odometer and have been breaking it in nice and smooth. Starting it up tonight (in the coldest weather the new...
  13. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

I agree, and definitely not trying to break the bank anymore than I already have given my drivetrain warranty void (R.I.P.). It was coming to and end soon anyway, but I’m trying to stay in control of the situation as much as I can. The mechanic who has serviced my vehicle for the majority of the...
  14. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

Update: I have heard back from the dealer, the car has experienced an over rev based on what the ecu recorded. They aren’t certain when it happened or how bad the damage is inside the motor, but it revved out pretty good.. ~7500rpm. I have owned this car for over two years at this point and...
  15. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

This could make sense too. I have a Verizon hum plugged into my obd port, and about a month ago I purchased a radar detector (story for a different day). Maybe both being plugged in have overworked the battery. Thanks for the input. Update hopefully coming around 9am tomorrow!
  16. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

Good luck to you too, the car was dropped off at the dealer Monday morning, as of 1am on Thursday I have not heard anything back... I will be calling tomorrow and will hopefully have some good news, or the beginning of a sob story. Fingers crossed, I will make sure to keep you guys updated.
  17. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

I’m going to call the dealership tomorrow and relay your potential diagnosis. I have not seen the p0219 code in person or heard any further information regarding how bad of an over rev occurred (if it ever even happened). I will have to further investigate, because that is the code my dealers...
  18. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

Unfortunately it is still sitting at the dealership with no updates so far. I had read that could have been a possible fix, but with the misfire code I figured it was a better move to have the dealer look at it. Looking back I wish I had tried before it got stuck in Honda limbo due to the p0219...
  19. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

Thank you for the information, considering it sits outside 99% of the time it would not surprise me if a rodent treated themselves to a snack on my wires. Maybe the possum took a bite out of something in its last moments, or the resulting thuds knocked something loose. I'm just at a loss of...
  20. 2017 Si w/ 28k miles. Emissions problem, Power Steering problem, Traction Control problem, Hill Assist problem, etc.

Sorry for not posting in the correct section of the forum initially, in my fluster I did not take the time to select the most specific section.
