  1. AC PROBLEM finally on warranty

For those Canadians who are still concerned about their A/C system, I am told that we will receive a notice of the condenser warranty extension in the mail.
  2. AC PROBLEM finally on warranty

I think you’ve pretty much got it right.
  3. AC PROBLEM finally on warranty

I don’t think it’s the same as a Product Update. I didn’t receive it in the mail but it may be that Honda Canada is just slow in mailing it out to people. But my understanding from talking to other people (who don’t own Honda vehicles) is that they don’t tell you about Service Bulletins unless...
  4. AC PROBLEM finally on warranty

For all the Canucks concerned about this issue, there is apparently now a Honda Canada Service Bulletin about a warranty extension to 10 years on the condenser for the same Civic model years (2016-2018 all trims) as in the US. I haven’t seen it yet but I’m going to be discussing this with the...
  5. AC Whistle Noise - 2000-2700 rpm - The Answer ?

I’m not sure what to say because this is really an unexpected finding! But it just probably means we were each hearing a different noise, I guess, but time will tell. Thanks for that update. That’s something I’m going to have them check next time, as well, even though I wasn’t driving on any...
  6. AC Whistle Noise - 2000-2700 rpm - The Answer ?

They tested the pressures before and after putting in the new refrigerant and there were definitely differences - low side 38 PSI and high side 70 PSI BEFORE recovering gas - and after recharging with gas, low side was 33 PSI and high side 110 PSI. The latter pressures were maintained between...
  7. AC Whistle Noise - 2000-2700 rpm - The Answer ?

If the noise comes back then I’ll know that it was a leak that caused the low refrigerant - it may be that an insufficient amount of time has passed for the leak to be visible with their system.
  8. A/C system noise/whistling - lets sum all the information pals

  9. AC Whistle Noise - 2000-2700 rpm - The Answer ?

They have checked for leaks after putting in dye 2-3 weeks ago and there were no leaks found. I haven’t heard the noise since they replaced the refrigerant. It looks like it was just low refrigerant as a result of factory error.
  10. AC Whistle Noise - 2000-2700 rpm - The Answer ?

There should not be any fee whatsoever but I guess you need to convince one of their techs that there is an abnormal noise that needs to be investigated. So start by telling them that you are hearing a noise that is abnormal, and, for me, it was easiest to demonstrate the noise by taking the...
  11. AC Whistle Noise - 2000-2700 rpm - The Answer ?

Thanks! Look for another post at the beginning of May.
  12. AC Whistle Noise - 2000-2700 rpm - The Answer ?

This is apparently the situation with my car—they refilled the refrigerant and then they couldn’t hear the noise—but it remains to be seen how long it will be before the noise is back. It could actually be months if it is a very slow leak. The other possibility that my service advisor mentioned...
  13. A/C system noise/whistling - lets sum all the information pals

If you’re still hearing the n Hey Jules, Any news on what’s happening with your A/C system? I’m curious because I’ve been getting mixed responses from my dealership and I know it’s not all “in my head”. I’d really appreciate your input.
  14. A/C system noise/whistling - lets sum all the information pals

I think that, by and large, most people employed at these dealerships really WANT to help you—because it gives you one hell of a lot more satisfaction in helping someone than in screwing them around (that’s a proven psychological fact!). So I’m going to try to stay positive and (initially) not...
  15. A/C system noise/whistling - lets sum all the information pals

I’m going to talk to someone tomorrow about whether the Service Manager is back and if so, I will make an appointment to talk to him about this whole thing.
  16. A/C system noise/whistling - lets sum all the information pals

I was told last time that the Service Manager was away (because of a gravely ill family member). But when I know he is back, I’m definitely going to get in touch with him. I did tell them to NOT wash my car. You have my word that I will refuse to ever deal with that particular service advisor...
  17. A/C system noise/whistling - lets sum all the information pals

Anyone heard of the saying “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing”? —it’s true (in a way) but when you don’t know much about the internal workings of a car you really are at the mercy of the people who are in charge of fixing it. So I’ve told myself that I must learn more about what is...
  18. A/C system noise/whistling - lets sum all the information pals

Hey, I hate to say this, but you were partly right—it’s not a good idea to make ANY SUGGESTIONS WHATSOEVER to the service advisor who is booking in your service. The fellow I dealt with during the visit when the noise was confirmed was super nice and has spent a lot of time explaining things to...
  19. AC Whistle Noise - 2000-2700 rpm - The Answer ?

I still haven’t got the final verdict on what the problem is and it’s mainly because of the service advisor I got first time around (who was not helpful at all). But there is another guy who is going to help me get this sorted out in the next day or two, or at least he’s going to try his best.
