  1. Farewell

Well, I just sold my pristine 2019 ex sedan. Sold it today, first looker paid my price in cash. It would be 4 years old next month, and I wanted something new. So, I figured I'd sell it before my CA vehicle registration had to be paid up in a couple of weeks. I bought a brand new 2023 Subie...
  2. 2017 Honda Civic EX-L Sedan Engine Underbody Cover

It's rather flimsy aluminum...you can stand on it and use some pliers to straighten it out...get the replacement hardware and you're good to go.
  3. Let's talk about those 1.5T rods

As well as the J-vin sedan/coupes imported to US
  4. Any good auto loan out there?

Depends upon on the duration of your loan. I prefer credit unions over banks. Mine has 1.99 for 48 months on both new and used purchases. 60 months goes to 2.09...and so on. Might be worth exploring the credit union angle.
  5. Let's talk about those 1.5T rods

FWIW... Found this on the CR-V forums... From a large listing of Honda's current engines... L15B7 VTC Engine in Honda Civic (10th Generation) Found in: 2016–2021 Honda Civic turbo 2017–2021 Honda Civic Si 2019–2021 Honda Vezel (Japan/China) 2020– Honda XR-V (China) L15BA VTC Turbo Similar to...
  6. Are clamp on exhaust tips secure?

My bolt on tips never fit snugly enough. Ended up Craigslisting them and had a muffler shop cut the stock mufflers and weld some chrome ones. Looks nice from the side, also. Whole thing was around 100 bucks or so... back in 2020.
  7. Has anyone used an oil extractor to change out their transmission fluid?

Ditto. I use ramps for all three vehicles I own. FYI.....I installed front splitters on my 19 EX, so the ramps became a challenge. Solution: Two square cement stepping stones placed directly in front of the ramp. The stepping stones provide the needed front end clearance as you drive up the...
  8. Your Next Purchase?

I'll be looking at the 2023 HRV...if Honda decides the 1.5t is an available engine option for the US market.
  9. Subtle corner splitters

For me.... - Lightly sanded the two pieces where they attach to the bottom of the bumper... - Cleaned sanded area with rubbing alcohol and applied 3m emblem tape (the wide width one) - Cleaned bottom of bumper with rubbing alcohol and pressed into place. - Used 4 self tapping screws each piece...
  10. GenX CVT drain plug washer

I happened to be driving by a Honda dealership yesterday and remembered that I needed a CVT drain plug washer for my CVT drain/ refill today. Told parts guy to give me two. He grabs them and tells me it's 10.00 plus tax. Five bucks each! So, I tell him I'll pass. Go to Amazon, bought a bag of...
  11. Subtle corner splitters

Thanks for the tip. Got them for my 19 EX
  12. Heads up on Lease Returns...

Dunno about that... The buying dealership would have to contact the lien holder, Honda Financial, to get the verified payoff. I doubt the buying dealership will simply cut a check to you--without owning title paperwork in their name. In your scenario: the buying dealership would confirm the...
  13. Heads up on Lease Returns...

"Dealers are so strapped for inventory that they're calling up lessees — no matter whether they sold the vehicle or not — and offering to buy leased vehicles for high markups, Ivan Drury, senior manager of insights at Edmunds, told Insider." 'They're being contacted right now and being told...
  14. Heads up on Lease Returns...

The days of turning in your leased Honda or Acura to a rival dealership or third-party company are over. Honda on Thursday announced it will no longer work with rivals when it comes to returning or buying out leased vehicles. All Honda and Acura vehicles must return to a proper Honda or Acura...
  15. Highest quality?

I'd use Torco if it weren't so hard to find in my area.
  16. Highest quality?

A name brand, HCF-2 application fluid, is all you need. I'm using Castrol to drain and fill every 2nd or 3rd oil change. It's readily available and usually inexpensive. There's no need to stick with typically expensive Honda HCF-2 fluid. I get a kick out of members saying they'll stick with...
  17. Remove front vent on 2019 EX sedan...

Got it done. Appreciate the help. Sorry about and the delayed response...I just returned from a road trip and caught a rock through the driver side fog lamp. This time, I simply popped the upper and outside tabs to access the fog light screws and install a new lamp. Easy Peazy. No need to worry...
  18. Hondata CVT Failure

Precisely. Magnuson-Moss, among several things, addresses product warranty, and eliminated manufacturer "tie" regarding common maintenance items and general parts. Once you buy and significantly change the item beyond what the manufacturer developed (higher performance mods, chopping the top to...
  19. Buying Type R Used. If car had a tune reflashed than put back to stock before sale. Is the warranty gone for the new unsuspecting buyer.

I would think so. Once the factory ECU is tampered with, it's no longer "factory" ECU. It's YOUR ECU. Honda could convincingly argue that anything linked to their ECU, which fails, is warrantied. Once it's modified, however, it's non-factory and therefore not subject to warranty. It's much...
  20. J-Vin GenX Civics will cease in August

Yeah. I bought my 2019 new in March, 2019. My dealer had 2 on the lot with J-vin. Mine was one. I'm thinking there's a few more floating around in CA still available until they sell the last ones in the next couple of months or so.
