I'm lucky
I'm fortunate I've got about a six to eight mile drive at highway speeds before turning off.
The other trick is to keep my wife's shopping all in one area and not chasing from one mall to another.
And I'm finally retired so it's not pedal-to-the-metal anymore.
My biggest beef about this car is the CVT shifter.
I always down shift especially when coming off the highway or heading down a steep hill. The downshift goes fine but the shifter does not do a smooth upshift. Too often it goes straight forward into neutral.
All I ask for is a smoother shifter.
Coming up on two years of ownership of the Civic and I'm more than happy with the fuel consumption.
Best to date is just under 44 mpg
Average since the start is 39 mpg
Worst was just over 34 mpg.
That's with 20,000 miles of driving.
I do about 75% on the highway, driving into town.
Mine is an auto/CVT and I've always downshifted autos, but this CVT was not meant for that.
Slipping it into S isn't the issue, but putting it back up into D is a real pain. If I try to do it quietly or smoothly, often it goes right into N, or I'm farting around for a second or two and my wife...
As many have mentioned, the Honda dealer price is excellent. The last time I was at a quick lube for an oil change those places were quoting about $100. I didn't bother with it.
SimarK87827 ?
California 36. It leaves highway 101 just south of Fortuna and heads east to Red Bluff. Considered one of the best motorcycle roads in North America, so no doubt great for cars too.
I did it a few years ago on my motorcycle and loved it. My wife on the other hand was almost getting sick...
I just realized my warranty is up at the end of this month.
I bought the car used last year, very low kms, and since then only had one issue. That was a rear strut breaking and had to be replaced. Other than that, every thing is running smoothly.
So is there any thing that I can do, anything...
I had a rear strut break a couple of months ago. One day I started hearing a banging in the back and pretty well knew what it was.
Dealer replaced the entire assembly, no questions asked.
I hate winter too so we've been doing something about for the second winter now. Several weeks at a time.
I'd post pictures of what we're doing but wifi is real slow here in Mexico.
For me this is the best driving/riding song around. Gotta be careful though, it's sure to get you a speeding ticket.
As one guy said, this is a 90 mph song.
I needed a new car.
Okay, I was running up too many kms on my Sonata, and being retired I wanted a car that would last and wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg. The Snota was heading that way real quick.
I do a lot of driving in the mountains so needed something that fit the bill.
I had checked...
A couple of weeks ago I started hearing a banging in the right rear. Took it into the dealer and sure enough the right rear strut was broken, as I suspected.
I got it in for replacement last week and they stated they had to replace the entire strut assembly.
Thank god for warranties.

I'm interested in hearing the truth to this too.
I've been down shifting automatics for decades and never had an issue, running some of the vehicles up to 100,000 miles.
And yes, I do downshift my CVT Civic.
Hi all.
Name is Al and I picked up a slightly used '16 Civic LX last summer. Nothing special compared to what a lot of you are driving, but I'm more than pleased with my purchase. Got rid of a '10 Sonata. Never again!
I've been lurking here for a bit, keep looking for a thread that discusses...
