You know what sucks is that we don’t know if Honda finally figured out how to stop the leaks. The reported repeat repairs is super concerning. I wonder if all civics will become money pits due to the AC issues after the 10 year warranty is up. Wish Honda America would comment on the issue.
I just got a notice in the mail from Honda America. Apparently North American laws required a change in the formulation of the fluid that messes with the seals - and that’s why it leaks. The notice basically notifies that the AC system is warranted for 10 years after date of purchase of the car...
There is a Scotty Kilmer video claiming that "new Hondas are crap" where he states that Honda designed the lock to be electronic and NOT mechanical. I guess he's spreading misinformation???
Here’s Why New Hondas are Crap - YouTube
I got my condenser (and I think also compressor) replaced in Fall of 2019 for my '16 Civic EX.
Now, I just brought my car in for state inspection and they replaced my condenser AGAIN under the warranty because it was found to be leaking. Is Honda just having the dealership install the SAME...
My AC has been blowing warm on the driver side. I’m currently at 37 months and 17,000 miles. I called Honda corporate and they stated they will not cover it. I'm waiting for my dealer service manager to call back. I think Honda is being very petty and I have lost confidence in the brand.

My AC has been blowing warm on the driver side. It took a really hot day here in the Northeast to really expose the problem. I was having the problem a couple months ago but it wasn’t hot enough outside for me to really notice. I’m currently at 37 months and 17,000 miles. I called Honda...

Wow -- thanks so much for these pics! How do I pull that trim panel off (the one with the traction control buttons). Do I just pull downward with my hands?
Just waiting for clearer instructions on how to get the piece off. The blow-dryer idea above is a great one -- use that while curling the piece. The key would be to "over-correct" the curve. Then, it should sit flush after re-installation.
I was gonna take it off, and massage the plastic piece to curl inwards and hold it for like a minute or 2. Then install it back in. I bet that would do it. I asked a local dealer about it during my oil change and they offered to get a new piece and install it but I don't trust techs with...
So I pull it from the side that the weather strip is on? I can use my fingers to do this? Do I remove the weatherstrip or just wedge my fingers in there? Thanks.
How do I remove this instrument panel side piece? As you can see, part of it isn't very flush. I want to take the panel off and then inspect and reinstall it.
