  1. Can’t shift smoothly after 1 year

Is this the right MTF for Si?
  2. Can’t shift smoothly after 1 year

Good discussion on the Si shifter. My 2019 Si is the notchiest of all the Honda (and even my 2016 GTI) I've ever driven. I am not talking about the throw or the sureness of engagement. It's just too "metallic" instead of the usual Honda "buttered Teflon." I have just over 4000 miles on this...
  3. It's now officially official

[QUOTE="amirza786, post: And parting with the sweet-shifting manual? Never. Not for all the cylinders, nor all the tea in China. But good luck and enjoy.
  4. Metallic sound when decelerating

The noise foyevtsov has recorded (thank you for sharing) is not what I was talking about. That sounds more like coming to a slow stop at a stop sign or traffic light, which was getting better before I sold the car on Friday. I spoke to a mechanic (a knowledgable one) who works with and knows...
  5. Metallic sound when decelerating

I have heard the noise mostly when the car is cold (not always), mostly during deceleration, but (and I think I posted this before) the most obvious and striking sound was when I was just backing out of my garage. Obviously, a slow acceleration, and there were no interfering noises. The walls...
  6. I am confused... Shifting Gears at a low RPM?

I usually upshift earlier, too, to save gas, especially in city driving, but I pay careful attention to road incline. On uphills, I downshift; on downhills, I upshift. Normal driving, when the road in front is open, I usually upshift at about 3000 RPM. Also, I don't stay on the clutch any...
  7. Shifting at low RPM - help?

The fact that Comfort mode makes the jerk less noticeable might be suggestive of the fact that you don't remove your foot off the gas pedal on time? The throttle response is somewhat muted in Comfort, as you know. I just wonder if that could be a contributing factor. Also, when the...

  10. How are CTR headlights?

I haven't noticed an alignment problem with the lights nor any moisture (yet). My problem with the lights is different. I was so excited about the LEDs with my 2019 CTR, but I tell ya, I'm disappointed. They're bright, but they are not uniform. Too many dark "gaps" between streaks of light...
  11. Metallic rattling sound from the engine bay - With fix!

I thought the same thing. But just yesterday, I was about to back out of my garage, and I heard it distinctly as soon as I put the car in reverse. No brakes. Just a slow release of the clutch while backing out. There was no mistake. A buzzing and clanking metallic sound. I really think it could...
  12. Anyone bought Honda Care extended warranty for their Type R???

I did. I was kind of talked into it, but it was the end of the month, and I got something like 50+% discount (at least, that's what the guy said). It ended up being around $23.00 per month (down from almost $50.00) for the life of the loan if I am not mistaken. I also bought the wheel and...
  13. Can’t decide between an Si or Type R

I’d recommend either a GTI or the Type R. Nothing against the Si, but I’d take a GTI over it. Type R is a class-leading thing of amazingness. Just got mine Thursday, giving up my wonderful, lovely GTI. I wish I could keep both. Just my two cents.
  14. For those who owned both: How much faster does the Type-R feel over 10g Si?

Thank you for this, And that's the genius of the CTR, isn't it (from everything I've read--don't own one). It feels like an every-day horse until it doesn't.
  15. Utility of fast cars?

I have the same exact dilemma. What to do? I have a GTI and love it. But really, really want the Type R? "Wanting" doesn't equal "needing," does it, especially in a small college town? I read somewhere on CivicX something that I totally agree with. Paraphrasing: Driving a slower car fast...
  16. Scotty Kilmer on oil dilution

Slightly off-topic, I’d like to ask a potentialy ignorent question: what is inherent in the 1.5 liter engine that makes it prone to oil dilution? Why doesn’t the 2.0 (Type R/Accord) seem to be afflicted?
  17. Type R Tires (tired yet?) & more

Thank you. I didn't know this. I appreciate the information.
