  1. Today's the day

After months of being stuck working only part time due to the pandemic, I finally had to make the difficult decision to let go of my Sonic Gray Type R. Money's gotten too tight, and I just can't afford it anymore. It's been a fun 2 years, but all good things must end, I guess. Maybe I'll be back...
  2. Brake hold

Not only when you shut off the car. The parking brake also automatically engages if you unbuckle your seat belt while at a stop with brake hold turned on and engaged.
  3. Stop Breaking 20inch wheels guys!

Sounds like different dealers offer different plans for tire and wheel coverage. The plan I got specifically says it DOES cover potholes, as stated under "Tire and Wheel Protection" on this page.
  4. How many miles does your CTR have?

Picked mine up 11/18 with 7 miles on it. Only approaching 4500 now, mostly because it's not my daily. It didn't even hit 1000 until March, since the roads here are so crappy in the winter. Obviously I've gotten to drive it a lot more since then!
  5. Fact or BS - Dealer said it's normal for CTR to not start after sitting for 6 days

Just to add to the many other posts confirming this is BS, my CTR sat for multiple 2- or 3-week spells during the winter months when the roads were too bad or heavily salted for me to want to drive it. Started up totally fine every time, even in very cold conditions. Hell, my '06 Corolla sounded...
  6. The Type R isn't always an easy manual to drive

As my first manual, this has been a dream to learn on for the most part. The only thing that bothers me is shifting from 1st to 2nd is different from all the others. Going 2nd to 3rd and up, there's a slight bit of rev hang, and when slotting to the next gear, it holds the revs for a split...
  7. PSA: Dont forget your free yearly map updates for the Nav.

Running into the same issue as some other folks here. Got my 2019 R in November. Garmin shows 2018.0 maps, but says it's up to date. Oh well, I'll try again at some point. It's just a formality anyway, since I mostly use Waze with Android Auto.
  8. Should I learn manual for a Civic Type R?

If you want to use auto rev matching, you need to downshift before the revs drop below 2k, otherwise you'll need to blip the throttle to rev match yourself. I've been learning manual on the CTR as well (got it in November), and so far I've just made a point of keeping the revs above 2k so I can...
  9. Official Sonic Grey Pearl Type R Picture Thread

I have a place to wash her myself now that I'm officially a homeowner! Here she is, nice and clean:
  10. How often do you see the CTR?

Spotted a PMM with bronze wheels near Polaris around lunchtime. Got a friendly wave back, too!
  11. Post pictures of your car today!

I'll attempt to get us back on track:
  12. Official Sonic Grey Pearl Type R Picture Thread

Here's a couple shots I took last week at the park:
  13. How often do you see the CTR?

Yeah, the dealerships here in Columbus are consistently selling their CTRs, but I never see any around, which makes me think it's mostly out of state buyers who can't get MSRP at home.
  14. How often do you see the CTR?

First time in months I've seen another CTR in the wild - an ABM one that passed me going the opposite way in Hilliard this weekend. That was also the first time I've ever seen a blue one in person.
  15. Rev match question about up-shifts

I've actually noticed that if I miss a downshift (i.e. wait too long and the revs drop below 2k), it'll still auto rev match if I double clutch into the gear I want. Only gear it doesn't seem to work for is going into 2nd. If I want to downshift to 2nd and I drop below 2k in 3rd, I have to...
  16. Official Sonic Grey Pearl Type R Picture Thread

I'd say Steel Vengeance doesn't just live up to the hype; it surpasses it! Maverick and Raptor are still right up there for me, but I think Steel Vengeance is actually a bit better. It's tough -- those are a very close top 3 for me. If you're curious about my top 10 currently, it's something...
  17. Test drive Type R

This may be the weirdest flex I've ever seen...
  18. Random clutch question

You would be correct. This is my setup, and if I remember right, this is the smallest version of this model mouse mat.
  19. Random clutch question

As someone who games as well as drives, the best comparison I can offer is to playing a first person shooter. The PC players with the best and most accurate reflexes have the sensitivity on their mouse turned way down so that they have to use their arm to move any significant distance to aim...
