What does this tire like / need to be as fast as it was last weekend? Does it need to be shaved or can it be "worn in?" How long does it last once it hits prime?
Sorry about that. FS?
I have the Whiteline bar and I run it year round on the stiffer setting w/ the Accord endlinks. The only time I notice the bar at all in normal driving is going up pitched driveways. I don't think it's really worth moving from soft to stiff and back again, not like the...
IIRC the test mules have been spotted with 265/30-19s. Usually a minimum 9" wheel is recommended for that tire size.
Of course total speculation on 2nd hand info from a test mule means not a lot, but there is non-zero possibility the next gen Type R is on 19x9s.
I got burned on the Elantra...
FWIW for a long time we had "best of breed" classing, meaning we classed the "best" trim car appropriately, and threw every other trim below it.
That came to an end in the move from Stock -> Street. There were a lot of complaints about cars like the CR, the Solstice Z0k, and MSR Miata. As...
Not quite. The Elantra has a shorter wheelbase than the 11th gen (107.1 vs 107.7) and in base trim at least is lighter than an 11th Civic as well (2895lb vs 3058lb) 10th Si is 106.3/2911lb for comparison.
C&D spec sheet
Accord is on a whopping 111.4in wheelbase so the next gen compacts still...
For local competition, the OE height 235 is fine. I've run them all year, but I didn't hit the national circuit this year other than the Chicago Champ Tour. No real change in PAX finishing position in locals on them vs the 255 I ran before. Car doesn't look like it has skipped leg day, and...
Just an extra note - I'm not familiar with the FK510 specifically, but looks like they're not really a high performance tire, at least not compared to what most of us in this section of the forum are used to. 40psi may be necessary depending on the sidewall construction, plus the surface you...
Jesus dude this is the GS thread. Stock springs and OE alignment adjustment methods only.
Pull the pins and max out the front camber. I personally run a hair of toe in up front, not sure what everyone else is doing.
Dial in a touch of toe out in the rear - hopefully you don't get a car with...
Raj,
I think there's some preference. The Karcepts is the most flexible, as there's a ton of settings and it is mounted on the delrin bushings so it's consistent. For me, I couldn't get the end links to be quiet enough for me so I sold it and run the Whiteline, I use the Accord (metal)...
Yeah the tire thing this year has been really interesting. Old RE71s, RT660, Rival S, Kumho, Nankang, and Yok all somewhat viable, depending on surface, temp, and driving style. No real evidence that any tire is a must have.
What'll be fun is if one tire suddenly works really well - or...
So we had quite the variety of sizes this weekend at the Chicago Champ, but only 2 compounds. I think this is right:
1&2. Ramos/Finch were running 255/40-18 RE71Rs
3. Azevedo was on the stubby 255-17 Falken
4. Josh was on a 245/18 Falken
5&7. Ken and I were on the 235/45-17 Falken
6. Roy was...
Only two events on mine (235 17s) but so far, so good. If someone blindfolded me and told me they were 'Stones I wouldn't be able to tell.
Running the Chicago Champ in a few weeks and that should be a decent test.
Announcing that heat was a blast. Really felt like the next best thing to Lincoln itself, competition wise. Not sure how many times you've been to TEA, but most cars, and maybe all FWD cars, suddenly get very pushy on that surface. I've never been able to "feel" a grip limit there, either...
