  1. Wind noise

Check the rubber channels that hold the glass in the side windows in place. I had a small deformed section in the top channel (just next to my ear when driving). It meant the glass didn’t sit tight against the rubber and it let the wind noise in. To fix, I put the window down, trimmed a...
  2. The Infamous 2nd Gear Crunch

I occasionally had the grind and always a notchy feel to the change. For me the solution has been to basically stamp on the clutch pedal for the 1st to 2nd change. If I do that and keep my foot hard to the carpet the gear changes smoothly every time.
  3. Drivers side wind noise

I just had the wind noise next to my ear, not the sticking and unsticking sound.
  4. Gas pedal leg woes

I had the same weight on butt feeling as I have to have the seat low for headroom. I added washers under the rear mounting points and that worked by distributing my weight to my thighs. Before I did this I also found the gas pedal pressure was an issue (I was uncomfortable in many ways)...
  5. Drivers side wind noise

I had wind noise from the side window, right next to my ear it seemed. I powered the window down and found the fault was a deformed rubber surround, just at the top corner of the window frame. This is the rubber that the glass slips between as it closes. The indentation let the wind noise...
  6. Back Pain

I have “fixed” my seat by adding stacked washers around the bolts that fasten the rear of the seat to the car. This has raised the seat back, flattened the seat bottom angle and altered the backrest angle. Now pressure is taken off my bottom and my weight is redistributed to my legs (no...
  7. Passenger seat is too low

You could raise the rear of the seat by stacking washers around the bolts that secure the seat. The bolt is long enough to allow several milimetres of extra height. Unfortunately this is not possible at the front of the seat as the bolts go into the floor at an angle.
  8. Back Pain

Good points. However, I am in my late 50s and my previous 2015 VW Golf had very comfortable smaller seats for my 4 hour commute. That car had an electric adjustment for the seat back, which the Civic lacks. In my Civic the recline choices are too far apart and my preferred angle would be...
  9. Back Pain

Have you tried a Civic without the sunroof? I am 6 foot 1 and I just can’t get comfortable in my hatchback sport. I suspect the sunroof in my car forces me to sit too low. First I tried every seat height and angle, then I tried cushions to change the angles. finally I placed some washers...
  10. Gear grinding to 2nd

I avoid crunch by shifting out of gear, waiting a moment and the guiding the gear stick into the next gear. Works for me. Also, over time the notchiness has decreased.
  11. Tricky Shifter - new 2018 Civic Manual

The shifts in my Sport are notchy and when cold the first to second crunches a bit, just like the Golf TDi manual I drove previously. It had that issue from new to almost 300,000 kilometres. My habit is to shift out of gear then wait a moment before engaging the next gear. The gearbox in the...
  12. Front passager seat is so low, why ?

Probably not possible as the front anchor points are angled forward. Had same complaint from my wife. I bought her a gel cushion from Costco and she is happier now.
  13. Front Seat Comfort for Long Trips

I could not get comfortable in my 2018 hatch Sport - when the seat back was at the correct angle I felt like I was too upright. Today, I tried adding a folded microfibre blanket at the low spot where the bottom cushion meets the back rest and immediately knew I had the solution. Now I can...
