I resolved the grinding and I posted on how to do it back at this post: https://www.civicx.com/threads/the-infamous-2nd-gear-crunch.12890/page-89#post-657296
I've put another 7k on the car since this an haven't experienced a gind since. I think if you ignore it and just let it grind you'll...
I had this happen today at the gas station. The security light was on and the car cranked and wouldn't start. I was eventually able to get it to start and I drove it to the dealer for them to look it over. It's about a year old and less than 10k on the clock. It's got to be a fob signal issue...
Folks, See post 1332. I resolved this problem and have not had a grind since: https://www.civicx.com/threads/the-infamous-2nd-gear-crunch.12890/page-89#post-657296
All that I can say is that since I replaced all the rubber bushings in the shifting linkage with Acuity bushings that I haven't experienced a grind since. I approached this problem in a logical manner and tried one item at a time until I finally resolved the issue. I followed this process

I had a similar experience with the Acuity cable and base bushings in my attempts to solve the 2nd gear grind issue. I first swapped out the shifter for the upgraded Honda shifter, which helped, but the shifting was still rubbery and I continued to have the 2nd gear grind. After driving for a...
I placed a complaint on Carcomplaints.com. Here's the link: https://www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Civic/2018/transmission/transmission_grinds_between_1st_2nd_gear.shtml?utm_source=mooadmin&utm_medium=email
Let's see how many we can add to the site. Maybe we'll get the attention of Honda.
I had a gear grind this afternoon after about 1000 miles of grind free driving with the CDV removed. Mine occurred while turning left and accelerating hard. I think the CDV helped, but it's not going to solve the underlying problem, which is the transmission syncros (I suspect).
I use these on my motorcycle: https://my-fobo.com/. I’ve used them for the past 4 years with no problems beyond replacing the batteries a couple of times. I can check the pressure in my tires from in side the house with my phone as I’m suiting up. I did get the steel T valve installed...
Nice find!
I'll have to check mine as I take my Type R to the car wash several times a month. A weather stripping that can take heat may be the way to go. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Mr-Gasket-6323-Inferno-Reflective/dp/B000VTYPFG
I was skeptical of the CDV delete, but I will say that it was worth doing. I haven’t had a grind since the CDV removal and the car is much more drivable. The transmission is still pretty “notchy” IMHO.
It’s puzzling why Honda didn’t spend more time on this valve design, especially for the...
I did the CDV removal and I can attest that it definitely improved the drivability. It’s a much smoother transition between gears. Time will tell if this solves the 2nd gear grind, but I’m hopeful.
