You must keep in mind that when you go big turbo there isn't just one size turbo available. 27Won has a couple and PRL offers 4. I opted for the the #2 option as I didn't plan on going more than 300whp.
The more I think about it, and ponder what you've said, I think maybe it might have been better to go with the smallest big turbo upgrade (GT2860RS) to minimize lag and still get the best of everything else.
And I hear you, too. Since I don't have those upgrades I don't know the difference. But, I haven't needed them yet either. I would like to upgrade the brakes when it comes time to replace what I have. Just don't know what's out there now.
I will throw out one more story. Before the big turbo upgrade I took my Civic on a trip to the Smoky Mountains. I didn't realize that in the trip planning I put myself on a famous road US 129 "The Dragon's Tail". In TN, I believe. With no fore warning I was driving this road with STI's...
I am a straight line 1/4 mile guy. No need to defend the Type R to me. It was the car I had been waiting for 40+ years when it came out. But the cost and impracticality didn't suit my needs. That and dealer mark ups since it debuted. There will always be someone faster than you. The key is to...
In 2018 I looked for brake upgrades and couldn't find anything that seemed worthy. I naively thought I could just find some Brembo's that would work. Are there recommendations for my car as far as brake upgrades. I welcome your suggestions.
There is about a 1 second lag over my stock turbo. But I'm not a take it to the strip racer. Real world, on the street races every so often. Again numbers don't matter if you win. Top end is much greater. From a standing start I need a full quarter mile to reach full potential. From a roll there...
I will repeat something my tuner always preaches and that is that dyno numbers are very subjective. He doesn't even concern himself with the numbers. He tunes and gets what he can out of a setup. Temperature and even other dynos affect the outcome. He showed me same day dynos of his and the guys...
My tuner is a professional race car tuner who travels the country and keeps his clients race cars tuned. He is currently out of town.
I hope you were joking about the videos. I'm not some you tuber who does stupid stuff like that.
The point of this post wasn't to boast. It was to let anyone...
I imagine most here don't think big picture or long term. I am a cruiser/street racer from the early '70's. I have learned the lessons of straying too far outside the lines. You are constantly in the shop or fixing things. My builds over the last 20 years have stayed close to stock and have...
I appreciate all the info posted here and on this site. It is what led to my build. I was lucky enough to find the right stuff and avoid the bad based on everyone's input. Saved me alot of headaches and money.
Yes, Hondata thrashed their test car. That's why I am not worried about my setup and daily driving habits.
I initially replaced my intercooler, piping, front pipe, downpipe, radiator and added the CAI and tranny oil cooler. Hondata Flashpro tuned. That was enough...until I got an email from PRL...
