Maybe because I’ll never really be a car guy, I’ve never understood this idea. We have proven 1000 times over that there is in fact a replacement for displacement. Technology. What kinda power did any of the massive 80s V8s make? And we now have 4 cylinder with 1/4 of the displacement now...
31, first actual car I’ve ever own. Don’t really plan on doing much to it. Just a fun little go kart to drive back and forth to work and keep miles off my pickups. I will say it is far less of a chore to do a quick store run in the car. Haven’t ever owned an automatic and wasn’t going to start...
working in the east bay and driving from just outside of sac every day I was wondering the same thing. Figured it’s just how a little 3,000 pound car deals with water. I can feel it slide, seems to be only one tire or the other, on the highway at ~70mph. Never anything that did more than pull me...
Well this is cool. A link to my thread. Now that I’ve got a bunch of time in the car I’ve turned the tack off. The lights remind me of the shift lights on superbikes. In my experiences I’ve gotten better mileage carrying gears a little further. I hit 2nd at 20ish, 3rd at 35ish, 4th at 50ish. 5th...
So question, did you activate sport mode when you got it back? I mean I think that’s terrible design, but that small amount of water shouldn’t do much of anything long term unless it gets shorted while it’s wet. Allowing it to dry for a day(depending on your area) should be totally sufficient.
So having asked a similar question about a month ago, because I’ve never owned a little car before either. I got similar responses. Now with about 6 weeks of drive time in it I’ve found I shift between 3-3,500 basically always for normal driving. If I shift early I feel like it falls on its face...
So as a new to cars person, I’d like to get a track day in. I looked up an org that uses Sonoma but they want some classes done first. Are there any orgs that run grouped track days without the fuss? I’ve spent plenty of time on race tracks just on two wheels so I don’t really need a this flag...
Ask your friends. If one of them has a diesel pickup with a standard in it. Use it to learn. No easier way to learn. I’ve taught no less than 10 people in mine. If you don’t know anyone to help. Realize it is very simple. Especially these new ones. With brake hold you don’t roll so you can just...
I played with it a lot. I get the shifts the way I think they should be between 3,000-3,500. My biggest struggle at this point is that I can’t feel this silly clutch pedal to save my life. Maybe some softer shoes are in order. Had to drive the truck a day and went my god how do you press this...
I’ve had mine for all of a couple weeks and put 94 on each day. I’ve never owned anything but a truck in my life so I don’t have much to compare it to in that regard but with closing in on 2,000 miles I really enjoy it. Heck I even walked out with both sets of keys as I wasn’t sure what I wanted...
So I searched and only found some stuff in the Type R forum. When do you guys shift? I’ve being diving a 6 speed attached to a Cummins with a 3200rpm redline pretty much my entire driving life and fell like 3500 is wound up. I know I’m short shifting, but my question is when should I be...
I’m undecided on what I’m doing, but I think the red looks great on the blue. Dealer did the H(gave me the stock H), but I’m going to keep it along with the Si because of the red. “Civic” lettering may go soon.
Well glad I’m not the only one as I just bought mine Sunday. Asked the dealer today as I needed to stop by for a couple things anyway. Tech it is what it is. I did find that staying away from that 1-4% throttle helps a lot. Kinda a trick in traffic. I suppose a learning curve as I’ve been...
