They also have the highest dealer installed extras pack on their cars. They wanted $29.5k on a touring before TTL and wouldn't even counter offer when I offered a more reasonable number. Waste of my time.
No hard feelings. Glad we've all got the real answer as to what's going on. That's the whole point of a good resource of info; figure out the answers as make them clear for all to find.
If you took it in because the engine siezed from water injection, yes, they absolutely would deny that warranty claim if you had an intake on.
They are not going to "black list" your car from all future warranty claims because they saw it with an intake on it once. There are plenty of lawyers...
That makes sense if Honda set out to make a performance car. If they instead set out to build a super high efficiency motor that got maximum gas mileage with minimum emissions while being super quiet, they would do things very differently. Running fuel and ignition maps for maximum efficiency...
They can't void a warranty because something may cause problems. They can argue that certain warranty claims aren't valid if they can show that the intake is the cause of the problem. They can never invalidate the whole warranty be ause something might have effected one part.
I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the car runs 2 cats. I also wouldn't be surprised to hear that what looks like a big cat under the car is actually a second resonator.
That diagram looks exactly like a hot side turbo flange up top attached to a cat.
What it certainly doesn't look anything...
I certainly agree it looks better than that, but it just doesn't flow with the car. Looks like a bunch of pipes dangling below the car. Sadly, the rear bumper design of the civic doesn't leave much room to cohesively integrate visible exhaust tips.
But if you like it, it's your car and your...
I'll agree with you that it carries the RPM at different points depending on drive vs sport, but simulating discreet gears? Mine certainly doesn't do that. I have a motorcycle that does that, and the civic behaves nothing like that.
One can get pretty significant reductions in temperature depending on where the air is pulled from. I've seen 50+ degree deltas before.
I wish that the info presented here showed intake air temperature at the intake manifold for both configurations.
Does anyone know if the 1.5t motor uses a...
Most of the heating that occurs to the intake charge is actually from the process of the air being compressed, not from convection heating as the air travels through the turbo.
