I don't think there was any kind of incendiary intent with saying to avoid boost in 5th and 6th, but it doesn't matter how well the 'boosted car is put together', but over drive gears are over drive gears--doesn't matter the kind of car. But everyone is certainly free to find out how it goes.
I don't think anyone is disputing Injen in general, but Two-Step Performance did do a side by side comparison of the injen and PRL. I think most folks here should be happy with the route they choose for intakes, but in case anyone here hasn't read it yet, you can find the direct link in this...
Thanks for this in depth explanation. Like OP, I already have the PRL cai, and I'm considering either Ktuner or Flashpro. I'm initially leaning towards the Flashpro for the basemap with the PRL cai (street maf) for just a normal +6 sport mode and factory tune for comfort mode, since i'm not...
Nice! Have you found your temps to be warmer if you take off the lid cover? As a fellow SF person, I almost went with the 27won because of our winter and spring rain, but i was able to get the PRL for cheaper so I went for that. Doesn't sound like you can go wrong either way with all the...
Ahh i see. Was just curious! I already have my PRL cai on and I'm enjoying it. Right now, the only thing that will make me switch is if the performance data starts to show a different trend--or perhaps if my overall goal for the car changes.
To summarize the recent comments on this thread:
27Won
Still best choice if hydrolock is your primary concern
Smaller MAF housing than stock (consequences, if any, are not yet discovered)
Installation that doesn't require you to get under the car (post-stock airbox removal, because that bottom...
Great breakdown, and thanks for clarifying. I haven't seen any other comments on this (I'd like to hear from the aftermarket manufacturers themselves) , and I'm more curious about the design choice. It's totally fine if it's a deliberate choice and the R&D yielded the desired results--I'd just...
Thanks for the info. Where did you see that the 27won MAF is smaller than stock? Wouldn't this throw a CEL? Also wasn't aware of no clamp for the filter. Seems like a strange omission.
It looks like another member has also reported a hydrolock with the PRL cai. I do agree with most here that the undershield design is much better than in previous cars, but the same risk still applies. I have the PRL now, and I think i will test it out for another week or so. If i have a...
Yep, keeping my eyes peeled for info on the 27won. Oddly enough, If I were to switch to anything 'right now' it would just be the stage 1 kit until i go for a tune.
I do feel a slight bump in that mid to high end range, but yes, the low end below 3.5k is as you have described--a mild turbo lag sort of feeling. I think with regards to IATs, this intake is a beast and is exactly as advertised, but i think some potential buyers should be aware that this only...
After some spirited driving this weekend, I've noticed that there is a small dip in the low end. It's not terrible, but if you're 'looking' for it, you'll feel it. I'm thinking I'll stick with it; however, if in the case that another intake system that preserves the low end, or even bumps the...
I had some time with my Si for the past week with just the PRL cai installed (no tune yet; street maf), and fuel economy has been mostly the same, but there is a slight dip in the low end. It's not terrible, but if it's clear you don't want this, you might want to consider stock or maybe even...
I agree. I'll get on it every now and then, but for my typical daily use i'm not taking it too far. You might wonder why I did the intake at all, but I do plan to get the flash when warranty is up.
