  1. Review: Type R Subframe Brace, Tanabe Strut bar & Perrin Motor Mount inserts

I don't typically like to add spring stiffness without a corresponding increase in compression/rebound damping. I would consider mating the HFP dampers to the Eibach pro-kit springs potentially, but that is more than I want to spend for an unknown outcome for a street car. Trying to keep this a...
  2. Review: Type R Subframe Brace, Tanabe Strut bar & Perrin Motor Mount inserts

Got all 3 of these done today in my driveway. Install was easy enough. On to the good stuff. Type R Subframe Brace: The car feels more responsive...telepathic would be fairly accurate as response is a bit more instantaneous to steering inputs. I noticed pulling in and out of a gas station to...
  3. Would you trade up to a Type R even though you don't drive your Si spiritedly?

My friend got a Type R a few months back. We both have 2017 Si coupes already. I have a KTuner with VIT stg 1 tune @ 25psi. His car had 1100 miles on it when he let me drive it and I was hesitant to really rev it out, but I did stay in it until 5500 RPM a couple times and frankly I thnk my Si...
  4. Who's in SD?

Hey fellow Si owners in San Diego...This group was started back in 2017 but we're going to give it another kick-off. This is an Si only group. Feel free to read the group's description for a better understanding. And of course, if you're down, please request to join. =)...
  5. Are ENKEI RAIJIN's 18x8 be compatible with GENERAL G-MAX RS 235/40ZR18 with the speedometer correct?

Bridgestone RE71R is the highest grip street tire you can buy, but they're incredibly noisy. I got 20k miles out of a pair, and got 25k out of the Continentals. Continentals if you want a quiet ride with reasonable grip, Bridgestone RE71R if you want MAX grip. Both are very grippy on wet...
  6. Are ENKEI RAIJIN's 18x8 be compatible with GENERAL G-MAX RS 235/40ZR18 with the speedometer correct?

I have the GMAX RS on a different car. Huge rim protector bead btw...which is nice to protect your rims. However they have a lot of void area in the tread pattern so overall grip is pretty low for the category of tire. Noticeably less than the Continental Extreme Contact Sport which was also...
  7. Who's using 5w/30 in their Si??

DON'T SWITCH VISCOSITY! Oiling holes (orifices) in your engine are sized to match the viscosity of oil the engine has been designed to run with. Using a thicker oil will increase the time it takes for the oil to circulate the engine on startup each time. It will also cost you a little...
  8. Who's in SD?

DOn't normally go either...stayed home to watch Formula 1 and ate donuts and then fell asleep from a sugar crash. Just re-energized with something more nutritious and am getting ready to roll out in the Si cuz it gets lonely in my garage...been over a week since it's been out.
  9. TunerView Lite Now Available For The Head Unit

Ok, so u need a Windows laptop to install tuner view lite? That would explain why I can't find the app on my google play store on my phone. I have a windows laptop so we're good there. Correct me if I'm wrong please. =)

How long did it take start to finish?
  11. Plasti Dip SI Rims. yay or nay?

I 2nd that it was hard to remove. Prob right about it being hard if not put on thick enough. I have never used plasti-dip, just help my friend remove it of his wheels after they bubbled up from the canyon run. Geez, 1.5 cans per wheel? Yikes! Just the cost and added weight. Lolz.
  12. Plasti Dip SI Rims. yay or nay?

I've seen it on a canyon run on my friend's car. Maybe you people just aren't pushing your cars hard enough. Lolz. Ok, full disclosure, there is a mountain here in SoCal that is legendary called Palomar mtn. There is a 7 mile stretch with about a 3500 elevation gain from top to bottom. Going...
  13. Plasti Dip SI Rims. yay or nay?

As long as u don't plan on doing any canyon runs/track/auto-x in the car, will be fine. Otherwise, the plastidip will bubble up and look like poo if the wheels get hot.
  14. Civic Type R 1/4 mile times

Guys, these are some really great slips!!! We all know the launches are going to be a challenge on 20" rims. What I'm looking at is the speed trap diff between 1/8 and 1/4 mile. From 81 to 109 on one car, 84 to 106 on another...with 2.3 sec 60ft times even!! It is said that every .1 sec...
  15. Civic Si in GS

Sorry, was typing my last response as I was heading out the door. Yes, RSB will take some cornering duty off the rear and allow the front to remain more planted at the expense of the rear now more able to be coaxed into an oversteer situation. Overall this will increase cornering speeds but we...
  16. Civic Si in GS

Increasing my overall rear tire width increases the threshold at which I can drive hard and not have to worry about oversteer in an unplanned situation. On a closed course, u can work up to speed and you memorize every little bit of the track. On the street, too many variables and so I'd like...
  17. Civic Si in GS

^^^Seems my oversteer concerns were not unfounded then after all. Which is fine when running into cones in a parking lot, but on the street...it becomes far less laughable and damn serious! I'm still kicking around runnning the 265's on the back. But I'll see what I can do about reigning in...
