That's quite an extraordinary statement, considering how many of my 86 friends sold their cars for s2000s after they really got into tracking.
When you are at the limits of grip you do NOT want to lose camber
You're going get hit by depreciation on both the Si and the Type R (although the depreciation on the latter is not as bad).
It boils down to is the Type R > Civic Si + S2000.
I think you would be disappointed if you traded. The Civic Si is probably 80% the car the type R is, if you're not...
solved my second gear issue by disabling rev match.
Now it's a 3-4 issue, but it's way less problematic (in frequency and in severity) than the 1-2 issue.
You wanted to buy a car from your son and he traded it in anyway?? Had that happen to me once by a friend. Made me so mad, but it was a Mini Cooper and I now understand it was probably for the best
Leads me to the conclusion that
1) he hated the car so much that he had to protect you from it
2)...
Both! I also agree with you in that we got gypped. HARD. This will be the last gas powered car I'll probably ever buy and to say I put a lot of my hopes and dreams into it would be an understatement. But as I face reality- family is growing, time is a luxury, and tracking just isn't in the cards...
All these people throwing cash trying to fix the problem, and I'm sitting here (as not an engineer) wondering if the turbo placement is the main culprit. Turbos get hot. Bolting a turbo directly to the block seems like not a smart move.
But hey, what do i know.
My only advice (I know I sound...
My 1-2 shifts were crunchy. Not a wall like you mentioned, but felt bad.
I turned off rev matching and everything felt better, except 3-4 is a little worse, but overall, it was an improvement.
Give that a shot and see if it's the same for you.
Honestly, if you are hardcore tracking, get a lightweight N/A car. less on consumables (tires, pads, rotors, all that stuff adds up FAST), less overheating, less headache.
I just think of it as a quick car I drive on the street but could spank a lot of cars on the track for a few laps if i...
Sorry to go slightly off-topic, but do you know of anyone who has installed this on their car? I can't find a single review anywhere, and granted we all spent 40k give or take so we're probably more likely to spend the money than say... NA miata drivers, 2500 (the normal going rate) is still a...
I had something like this in my track s2k. Anywhere there was an opportunity for a brace, one was installed. Highly recommended if you're tracking it. Made the car feel like it was carved from one solid piece of ROCK.
On the flip side, it also made driving on the street a giant pain in the ass...
