  1. Civic Si + S2000 -> Type R? Is it worth it with baby on the way?

That's quite an extraordinary statement, considering how many of my 86 friends sold their cars for s2000s after they really got into tracking. When you are at the limits of grip you do NOT want to lose camber
  2. Civic Si + S2000 -> Type R? Is it worth it with baby on the way?

You're going get hit by depreciation on both the Si and the Type R (although the depreciation on the latter is not as bad). It boils down to is the Type R > Civic Si + S2000. I think you would be disappointed if you traded. The Civic Si is probably 80% the car the type R is, if you're not...
  3. Need help deciding between 2019 STI and 2019 Civic Type R

solved my second gear issue by disabling rev match. Now it's a 3-4 issue, but it's way less problematic (in frequency and in severity) than the 1-2 issue.
  4. Minor Crash with My Type R. Should I sell it?

How does one figure out the dollar value for this on such a new car. Also complicated by the fact that it's a 'in-demand' car..
  5. Need help deciding between 2019 STI and 2019 Civic Type R

I think he has a point though. I'd rather be in a slower car that can go more than 3 hotlaps without overheating, but YMMV.
  6. Need help deciding between 2019 STI and 2019 Civic Type R

You wanted to buy a car from your son and he traded it in anyway?? Had that happen to me once by a friend. Made me so mad, but it was a Mini Cooper and I now understand it was probably for the best Leads me to the conclusion that 1) he hated the car so much that he had to protect you from it 2)...
  7. Civic Type R at the track, goods and bads! Let's share our experience.

Both! I also agree with you in that we got gypped. HARD. This will be the last gas powered car I'll probably ever buy and to say I put a lot of my hopes and dreams into it would be an understatement. But as I face reality- family is growing, time is a luxury, and tracking just isn't in the cards...
  8. Civic Type R at the track, goods and bads! Let's share our experience.

All these people throwing cash trying to fix the problem, and I'm sitting here (as not an engineer) wondering if the turbo placement is the main culprit. Turbos get hot. Bolting a turbo directly to the block seems like not a smart move. But hey, what do i know. My only advice (I know I sound...
  9. Track checklist

I suspect he meant pads. But then again the rotors are drilled and most people I know stay away from drilled rotors on the track..
  10. Shifter Fights Me from 1st to 2nd

Oh, I got used to it! I also have small feet, although maybe some of it is ankle flexibility :) Cheers
  11. Shifter Fights Me from 1st to 2nd

I have no idea what that is. you can turn it off from the system infotainment. Hopefully we're talking about the same thing...
  12. Here is my used R for sale at the dealer if anyone is looking. Info thread not a for sale thread.

Imagine if everyone posted 3 new threads every time they changed their car.
  13. Shifter Fights Me from 1st to 2nd

My 1-2 shifts were crunchy. Not a wall like you mentioned, but felt bad. I turned off rev matching and everything felt better, except 3-4 is a little worse, but overall, it was an improvement. Give that a shot and see if it's the same for you.
  14. Essential cooling mods?

Honestly, if you are hardcore tracking, get a lightweight N/A car. less on consumables (tires, pads, rotors, all that stuff adds up FAST), less overheating, less headache. I just think of it as a quick car I drive on the street but could spank a lot of cars on the track for a few laps if i...
  15. ▀▄▀▄ Vivid Racing | KW Coilover Kit V3 Bundle Honda Civic Type-R 17-20

Sorry to go slightly off-topic, but do you know of anyone who has installed this on their car? I can't find a single review anywhere, and granted we all spent 40k give or take so we're probably more likely to spend the money than say... NA miata drivers, 2500 (the normal going rate) is still a...
  16. Will K20C1 be a legend in time?

Will need to be able to do > 4 laps in a row in socal before overheating before I'd entertain any legendary status..
  17. Cusco Braces ALL Review

I had something like this in my track s2k. Anywhere there was an opportunity for a brace, one was installed. Highly recommended if you're tracking it. Made the car feel like it was carved from one solid piece of ROCK. On the flip side, it also made driving on the street a giant pain in the ass...
  18. Want to keep my Rays Gram Lights from the SI

We need a higher offset. Anything that pushes the wheels further out will give you more/worse torque steer issues.
