  1. Fuel Grade and gas mileage PSA

I also drive mostly city in CA and also get around 29~30mpg every tank, depending on how long I drive on highways with my family during weekends. Meanwhile I keep refilling at Costco and I tried both regular (87) and premium (91) gas. No noticeable mpg difference yet. Mine is a HB Ex.
  2. Why to not get a Civic

Before go to the negotiation step with dealership, you feel miserable because there are so many options in the market, which is a good thing. You have choices, and either one is GOOD ENOUGH for you. You are just struggle about which one BEST fit you. For price negotiation, I admit it is...
  3. Road surface or tire noise.

From all similar threads it looks like Michelin should be the best, and then Goodyear/Continental. My HB is Continental but I think the tire noise is still quite loud (Maybe because the engine is too quite!)
  4. Why to not get a Civic

Just want to leave a couple comments here. - Mazda 3 HB is going to have an update to the engine for 2019 model (correct me if I am wrong). Not sure if it will greatly affect the resale price of 2018 model or not. - Not only the lower marked price, at this moment Mazda 3 HB should have more...
  5. Road surface or tire noise.

I am sorry to hear that. So what do you mean by "crappy" on those Firestone tires? Is it noisy or what?
  6. Road surface or tire noise.

LOL...I hope not, bro! What is your tire brand though? Yes I agree overall the Civic is very quite. I barely hear any motor noise for normal drive. The insulation to external road noise is also outstanding at this price level. But really when I bring the car >55mph on the highway...It gives...
  7. Sport Mode?

I don't think it is good to just use S to accelerate and then shift back to D. It does not make sense for AT. Again, at D we just need to step down the pedal depends on how fast you want. Our Civic should have more than enough power to accelerate at most situations. I will shift S/D only when...
  8. Sport Mode?

Yes - you can switch mode anytime (someone correct me if I am wrong, but I did myself) Those modes are really used to change for different situations during driving. But I think you can actually tell from how the Civic manage to let driver change among S/D/Econ. Econ is just a button while S/D...
  9. Road surface or tire noise.

I don't intend to dig and bring up old posts, but I just want to post about tire noise and this post shows up... So I got a new 2018 Civic Hatchback EX (17" wheel) recently, coming with Continental tires from OEM. Overall the cabin noise is very amazing below 40~45mph, but then the noise gets...
  10. Sport Mode?

I guess Econ mode should be the least responsive when you try to accelerate. It is weird that you feel D is slower than Econ. Normally it should be Sport > D (normal) > Econ in terms of power but also less efficient. I remember someone here mentioned D for most of the city/highway combined...
  11. Hatchback - What did you pay?

I am curious on all of your strategies to negotiate with dealerships..as hatchback inventory is running really low in San Jose! I ordered a new one which is coming soon as I want a specific color. I test water the salesperson at the time I ordered (I haven't put any deposit yet) and he said that...
  12. 2017 Civic more complaints than the rivals?

Yes! I test drive it and I also notice that too! I hope that the driver seat height adjustment can somewhat help on that. But then there is no adjustment available for front passenger seat and it is where most complaints go to.
  13. 2017 Civic more complaints than the rivals?

WOW....thanks a lot! This is a perfect statistics to explain the number of complaints. Yes, with that I agree that only one brand stands out while others are quite comparable! And thank you so much to all of you for the thoughts, sharing and comments! Actually I was ready to go for a Civic...
  14. 2017 Civic more complaints than the rivals?

I am seriously considering a 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback EX and I am comparing among the hatchback rivals, such as Mazda3, VW Golf, Hyndai Elantra, Ford Focus When I compared the complaints among these cars for the 2017 model at below website, although it does not specify hatchback/sedan models...
