To have a smooth acceleration I would just push the pedal to 20%, then lift, then push it again around 30%, after boost picks up feel free to wot.

The CVT isn't bad, is actually pretty good in my opinion. If you want a quick response from stop, never floor it, if you do it will stay there for whole 2 seconds. From a full stop attempt doing the two-step (myxal) or half throttle, you need torque not hp.
