  1. 2021 Civic Type R Limited Edition: Ultimate Track-Focused Type R Coming to America

I guess they don't want you to rear end the guy in front of you on the track while you are attempting to draft him? I hate these automated systems......I once rented a Ford that had it. Driving on a two lane highway......the thing kept fighting me when I passed cars. It just kept wanting to...
  2. 2021 Civic Type R Limited Edition: Ultimate Track-Focused Type R Coming to America

Not me.....why bother with 20" wheels even if forged when they will just get damaged. I've scraped up my OEM wheels just changing lanes on the roads here in Houston. Ever since going to 18" wheels, it hasn't been an issue. 20" is just too aggressive for normal roads......and lots of people have...
  3. 2021 Civic Type R Limited Edition: Ultimate Track-Focused Type R Coming to America

Pfft.......my wheels are still another 4.45 lbs lighter! Doesn't seem like much of an improvement.....though I guess mine aren't forged. :dunno:
  4. More efficient to cruise at a higher RPM?

Being that the Type R powerband starts around 3000 RPMs, you probably will see more fuel savings if you aren't on completely flat ground. If you are operating at some suboptimal range of the engine, it can only dump more fuel to provide torque. Since roads are never completely flat, at some...
  5. Am I overspending?

I think you need to take into context what he would replace the car with......which is maybe a car that is a little more than $5k less than he owes on the CTR. And with the little equity he has in the CTR, he will be financing most of the cost of the new car. If he was willing to sell the CTR...
  6. Am I overspending?

Seriously, I don't know why you are focusing in on the gas cost.......over the 20,000 miles you have put on the car, assuming the Accord does about the same MPG as the CTR and a 50 cent diff, you are talking about maybe $350 over a year. If that is breaking your bank......you need to sell the...
  7. Am I overspending?

I definitely feel your pain.......I had planned on buying the new Si with cash in 2017, but ultimately found a Type R and bought it. Granted, my financial situation is a bit better than yours......but that unexpected note set me back a year on some of my financial goals. And my trade in was...
  8. Ghetto Type R emblem delete....AKA stolen

As an update, I was able to get it fixed pretty quickly. Honda sells the decal for about $75 or something. The shop Honda body shop cleaned the paint, added some touch up paint (they still had some of my paint left from when I had to get the front end repaired after hitting a retread a month...
  9. CTR in accident (not my fault) ... questions for experts

I've always just filed through my insurance company and let them deal with the other insurance. And then refuse to talk to the other insurance company......your insurance company has an incentive and the resources to maximize their recovery.
  10. CTR in accident (not my fault) ... questions for experts

I guess the real question for those who were in accidents that were the fault of someone else and then saw there rates go up.......how much did they go up by? If it was $100 annually or so, it would be really hard to tell if this wasn't just from other environmental factors. There has been a lot...
  11. Ouch... poor Type R in NJ

No kidding......I understand how wheel locks work. And have always questions how many socket patterns are really out there that thieves can't just keep most of them on hand. But the poster I was replying to recommended a certain brand and don't put the key in the glovebox or trunk. But clearly...
  12. Ouch... poor Type R in NJ

Maybe this is a stupid question, but where should you put the key? Clearly, the lock has to be somewhere in the car or you might one day be in tricky situation yourself.....I imagine most thieves know this and will bust a window out to find it. I am not sure if makes much of a difference if they...
  13. Energy Green Si, am I the only one?

I was looking to buy an Energy Green Si a year ago when the new Si came out......normally I would go with Silver, but that green looked pretty sharp on the Coupe Si. But when it came time to pull the trigger.......I ultimately went with Champion White! :dunno:
  14. Unsolicited Photo Shoot With My R

Years ago.....there used to be a guy with the exact model and color Si as mine where I lived. So the last time I ever saw that car, I parked next to it and took a pic, too. My car is off to the left!
  15. Civic Type R's from Texas

There has to be several hundred CTRs in the state.......I don't know if I want to attempt finding my CW CTR from a hundred others, hahaha!:confused1:
  16. Service guy: “no one drives these cars”

I guess I just hit the gym harder than you, hahaha. And that's without doing cardio. It is also Houston......so humidity is pretty high. I think a huge part of it is overtime, sitting with a damp clothes.....a little absorbs in each time. If you press a wet piece of cloth against a dry...
  17. Service guy: “no one drives these cars”

I'm more worried about sweat soaking into the seat, and the foam.....and then bacteria growing in it and all the negatives that go along with that. A towel or something cloth, like a sweater, will just get wet and then transfer sweat to the seat next. I need something that will act as a water...
  18. Service guy: “no one drives these cars”

Shoot......in the 3rd world, everything is also 5 mins away from where you live. Everything else is a pretty long walk! ;) I use my CTR for all my driving, except for when I go to the gym and Harvey (or other heavy rain events). I use my old EP3 for the exceptions. The problem is......I go to...
  19. 2017/2018 FK8 CTR official factory production count??

I imagine the badge numbers get picked out of a box at random, so you probably only sequenced by what box they were on when your car went through. Is it 100 badges per box or 1000 badges? I would imagine VIN# are bit more rigid, aren't VIN# in more than one spot on the car? Seems less likely...
  20. 2017/2018 FK8 CTR official factory production count??

I think my original statement was correct then......we could just find the highest last 5 digits of each model year and determine the total US Type R count then. Side note, guess the Si Coupes will be quite rare.......only 4 digits for the sequential number!
