Changing my oil toady when I noticed some oil/sludge on the splash shield, just under the oil pan towards the passenger side.
There was oil under the oil pan, and some sludge/oil all up the pan again towards the passenger side.
Also noticed some oil, (Maybe grease?) at the back towards the...
So you would say that level of fluid loss is expected?
Thanks for the info. Just not sure what's considered normal. I feel like having to top up coolant every year seems a little excessive?
As the title goes, after about 2.5 years the coolant in my car was well below the minimum line. I honestly don't really recall checking it ever, it had to go to the dealership multiple times and that's where they would always tell me they "topped up" the flids.
So I fill it up to somewhere...
Heh.
Enough to start but I'm thinking oil pan heater to help things warm up quicker, reduced wear and hopefully some improvement with the fuel dilution.
My drive to work is 10 minutes and at -40 it's effectively a vehicle from the flintstones. Hopping along on frozen tire flat spots, rattling...
Has anyone had any luck installing an oil pan heater on their SI? I was just about to buy one then remembered the oil pan is oddly shaped and not really flat at the bottom. I thought maybe I could stick it on the side somewhere but the only accessible flattish spot seems to be right beside the...
On average I drive it 5 days a week, short drives. I have tried braking from high speed and nothing has made a difference.
Typical rust build up I see after a week of not driving clears up after one drive as one would expect so this isn't behaving like that.
Hey all, I think I have a good use case example of the dilution issue at hand. I have oil samples from when I drove the car in the summer at moderate climate and had weekend trips that involved going to my parents home roughly 1.5hrs away.
The second change is in an extremely cold climate...
Noticed this wear pattern on my rear brakes. They were serviced by Honda about 1.5 years ago, not sure if they fudged something up.
What do you guys think?
You think maybe it would be good to flush the system first?
Also the shop I went to mentioned they tested the coolant and it showed a freezing point up to -43 or so. I called my dealer down south I bought the car from and they usually only fill the 50/50 mix in the cars they sell soooo this has...
Had the work done.
I still hear the noise, albeit its much less obvious than it was before and I have gone over some bumps expecting to hear it but got nothing.
Something to note, it is -43C here so we're talking a fairly extreme side of the spectrum temperature wise. I will keep driving it...
So I must be horrible at searching or the question was never asked but here it goes.
I live in Northern Canada, its going to dip below -42C (-43.6F For my American brothers) and hover around those temperatures for the foreseeable future.
I own a 2017 Civic SI, I noticed two things. One, the...
Sounds like it's the same thing I was told. Most recently I've heard "New improved damper mounting base on both sides and insulate the damper cap with EPT foam".
Fun fact, the doors don't close well when its -38c :)..... Fingers crossed though.
So after inquiring I've been told the most probably cause is "insufficient noise isolation from the rear damper mounting base". Apparently there is a new damper mounting base to install.
I'm not a mechanic, I don't know if this is related to the revised part we were talking about previously...
I live up north and have taken my car in for whats probably the 5th time. Apparently there's a Honda Service Bulletin B-1-19 which was released 25 October 19.
Not entirely sure what they're replacing, I'll report back. Unfortunately given my remote location pars may take awhile.
