The guy literally thanks companies for hooking him up with parts in his videos. I recommend you watch one.
He provides advertisement for all the business he mentiones hence they sponsor him! Common sense....
I bet he didn't spend a penny. Most if not all the work on his car was probably sponsored.
He also didn't pay msrp for his Type R like we all did! You can be sure of that! :)
My car sounded like someone dropped keys in a blender and that is not an acceptable noise.
The noise however would completely go away after 10-15 minutes of driving, that is when everything would get nice and hot in the wastegate department....
Also, not all Type R's make that noise and it is...
Of course it's an issue. At the very least it is beyond annoying and it takes away from driving experience. As other makes go from what I know: #1. They don't rattle straight out of the factory.
#2. Most if not all have a fix for it.
Your dealer is as clueless as others.
The wastegate rattle has nothing to do with the pulley system engine uses and this is not new tech. Maybe to Honda it is relatively new but it definitely is't new in the industry... TD04/Td05 Turbos have been used for many years now so no new tech there...
Best of luck. Definitely let us know how it goes.
When I called Honda Customer Service last week they admitted that there is an issue with a noise coming from the turbo/wastegate setup so do bring that up as well!
I uploaded a video of how this noise sounds under the hood!
We ran the car on the lift in 2nd and 3rd gear and we diagnosed the noise with a spethoscope.
It comes deom inside of the actuator.... I do hope that someone will figure out how to fix this....
