No, I'm using real life experience. My wife has an iphone and I've tested it with her phone using car play.

Version 2.5.0.5 has a Lock Effect Mode option, set that to bluetooth. Then it will work with all audio by forcing all audio to run through the bluetooth codec.

You need to enable the option "Lock Effect Mode" and set it to Bluetooth. It will then work with any output from the headunit because it forces all audio to run through the bluetooth codec. The latest 2.7.1.0 doesnt seem to have this option but 2.5.0.5 that is recommended does.

This is for install onto the headunit itself, not your phone.

You're going to have to install Firefox or Chrome. Stock browser from Android 4.x isn't going to have an update that will fix what you're wanting to do. It's a basic browser with zero bells and whistles.
