Please come back and post your results. It seems very unlikely to me that this issue is caused by the display going out, but if you've found a fix then I will gladly try it out
That 25% free memory thing might be true if the 25% wasn't just 250mb... I think you're massively underestimating the amount of memory used when pulling apps from the background... Let alone adding nav processing or pushing music data to the amp.
If it were possible for me to monitor the RAM...
The only way I can get smooth audio playback is if I run Android Auto, which uses my phone's processor and RAM to power the interface (from what I understand, please correct me if I'm wrong). However, a Bluetooth connection is still required when connecting Android Auto... Doesn't that indicate...
The initial update released by Honda was not intended to fix the popping issue caused by Neural Surround. It was only intended to fix an error where no audio playing.
Honda has yet to release any fix for or statement about this issue. Please contact Honda Technical Support and report the issue...
I don't think the issue of sluggishness stems from the OS they're using, but rather the fact that there's only 1GB of RAM in the system, and the idle processes (before music and nav) takes up 750mb of RAM. This is most likely the reason why the Bluetooth stutters and certain apps hang or don't...
I love the neural surround, when it works! It definitely makes the system punchier and clearer. I really hope Honda hears our cries and fixes it ASAP.
And I really hope it's not a hardware issue! It would obviously be covered under the warranty, but there's always a risk of more stuff going...
I have had a 100% success rate now that I have turned Neural Surround off. Please try keeping Neural Surround off and it *should* prevent the loud popping from occurring. Please please please call the Honda tech support and alert them of the issue so they are aware that this is a widespread...
OK.. After about 5 days of testing, I believe this issue has been narrowed down to the Neural Surround setting being on at boot up. Very frustrating, as it sounds much better with the Neural Surround on, but I can live without it until a patch comes out to fix it. I will update if I experience...
I'm not 100% convinced that we are having the same issue. It might be the same symptoms, but a different root cause. I don't believe my neural setting is on but I will have to confirm. In my experience the popping begins on start up and no matter what I do to the audio at that point, the popping...
Alright boys or girls, lets keep the discussion focused on the issue and solution, rather than on hypothetical situations where Honda didn't distribute a buggy head unit.
Please post here if the amp replacement fixes the issue!
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I just recently did the software update at my local honda dealership, and later that same day experienced the loud popping once again. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed that this issue has not been resolved with this patch. I tried contacting the Honda...
It doesn't seem to be affiliated with a particular source. It happens regardless of whether it's on AM, FM, Sirius XM or Bluetooth.
I was thinking it was probably a bad amp. Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully they can ID the cause when I take it to the dealer...
I've been experiencing a very frustrating issue with my new Touring edition. Basically, about 50% of the time I turn the car on, my audio system pushes loud, static-y pops through my speakers. I've spoken to two different dealership tech guys, and both of them are at a loss as to what may be...
Great info! Thanks for the detailed step-by-step and pics!
Did you just splice a line output converter to your sub to add the 12"? Does this keep the stock sub active? Can you still control the volume using the HU sound settings?
Edit: just realized you already replied, and you don't have a...
