  1. Too much Engine Braking

I've never had an automatic transmission do that before in drive. Is that a CVT thing?
  2. Too much Engine Braking

I have a 2016 Civic Ex 2.0 with CVT. It has always seemed that there is too much engine braking. When I let off the gas, instead of coasting, the speed of the engine slows the car right down. I've mentioned it to the dealer but of course they say it's normal. Last weekend on a long trip...
  3. It's red and awesome.

You probably have, It's right on the way..
  4. CVT Issues At High Speeds

It's the same in all modes, D S & Economy. The reset did seem to help a bit for awhile. If there was a way to reduce engine braking that would smooth it out a lot I think.
  5. CVT Issues At High Speeds

It feels like there's too much engine braking. It doesn't coast when you let up on the gas, it slows right down. If you give it a little gas to maintain your speed, it jerks ahead. It's just not smooth at low speeds and is difficult to maintain speed under 25. There is also a slight surge when...
  6. Power windows

I may have been a doofus and opened the door to look for my wallet or something before trying the windows. That would explain it. Thanks for the help everyone!
  7. CVT Issues At High Speeds

Mine is smooth as silk at high speeds, but is quite jerky at 25 and under. Of course the dealer said it's normal, but it's the one thing keeping me from absolutely loving this car..
  8. Power windows

I stopped for gas in Oregon (where you can't pump your own gas) turned off the engine and tried to roll down the window to give the guy my card, wouldn't go down so I popped it into accessory mode, still no window action. I didn't want to turn on the engine so I just opened the door and handed...
  9. Power windows

Sometimes my power windows work with the engine off and sometimes they don't. What am I missing?
  10. CVT Problems on New Civic - Please Help!!

Mine is clunky at 25 mph and under as well. Took it in and they said it was normal just as I knew they would. Most people here have high speed cvt issues but mine is definitely flaky at low speeds.
  11. Should I?

  12. Road Trip

I'm on a road trip From Eastern Washington to Las Vegas and I saw my first Civic X on the road this morning. A nice brand new silver one. As I passed I honked and waved, as is the custom, but they didn't notice me. At that point I realized that the horn isn't really very loud..
  13. 2016 Civic engine recall - piston pin snap ring issue affecting some VINs

Yikes! It looks like they've had at least 9 engine seizures due to this defect.
  14. 2016 Civic engine recall - piston pin snap ring issue affecting some VINs

I'm wondering what led to the recall. Perhaps the snap ring guy came to work at the factory and failed a drug test?
  15. 2016 Civic engine recall - piston pin snap ring issue affecting some VINs

Took mine in for its boroscopy on Monday. All the snap rings were OK. Have they found any anywhere yet that weren't ok?
  16. My First Day - My Experience - Extended warranty help requested

..and a little research can help hedge your bet.
  17. Question for those with (or without) CVT quirks

    1. 2.0 2. Yes 3. Yes 4. Reset seemed to make it slightly better..
  18. My First Day - My Experience - Extended warranty help requested

Usually I don't buy extended warranties on anything but when we bought a Dodge Caravan years ago I decided to get the extra coverage because it was a known fact that the transmissions were weak on those. Didn't take long before we needed a new transmission and it was covered by the warranty...
  19. Possible cvt issue?

Interesting. I'm definitely taking it in when I get a chance.
  20. Possible cvt issue?

I think there's too much engine braking in Drive (I would expect that in S mode). Feels like a manual transmission when you slow down and there's nothing you can do about it without a clutch..
