  1. Civic Si in GS

I think Iā€™d agree with you. On my sedan, I was quickest when pressures were square due to the more stable entry in elements, and mine had the 25mm Eibach rear bar that worked flawlessly. FWIW, last yearā€™s national champ car uses the same bar. Setup extremes that seem to work on some cars just...
  2. Civic Si in GS

When I had the MAP exhaust on my sedan, I replaced the coupler sleeve with a v-band clamp and never worried about it. As far as making sound, it was never even close to the limit, but it allowed me to actually hear what the engine was doing. The off-throttle popping was pretty cool, too.

  4. FS: 17x8 Moda wheels and Continental ECS tires

For sale is a set of 17x8 MD18 wheels in gray with 235/45R17 Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires in like new condition. I bought these as rain tires for autocross and never needed them, so they only have about 100 break-in street miles on them. $1000 I donā€™t have a URL picture of mine, but...
  5. Civic Si in GS

The Eibach 25mm CTR bar works fine on these cars. I trophied in Lincoln with one, and the winning car had one. Put it on full stiff and forget about it.
  6. Civic Si in GS

I just wish the BFG werenā€™t so much more expensive...
  7. Civic Si in GS

So I take it you liked it? Could you tell what made a bigger difference? Which bar was it?
  8. Civic Si in GS

Theyā€™re just as crazy as the rest of us. Start ā€˜em young!
  9. Civic Si in GS

I see your point, but I know most of the kids and parents who attend Nationals, and the timing doesnā€™t deter them from coming to the event. In reality, a kid will learn more valuable lessons during a week at Nationals than he would during a week at school. Would there be more kids who attend if...
  10. Civic Si in GS

Not to get too far off topic, but the kids arenā€™t the problem. In reality, they only take a couple of minutes per run if we have to pause before and after them. The ultimate solution would be to run them with shifter karts so they can be integrated into the run order with no delays at all. Note...
  11. Civic Si in GS

Good to know. In my experience/observation, newer cars donā€™t need nearly as much fuel to avoid starvation. My 1989 Civic in STS trim needs almost 3/4 tank, and it sucks. Good luck in Packwood!
  12. Civic Si in GS

Is that how much fuel you have to run in the car to avoid starvation?
  13. Civic Si in GS

ā€œWear diamondsā€? Depends on where those are on that particular tire. 33/30 does seem a little low to me, though.
  14. Excessive water in mufflers

My Civic Si collects a crazy amount of water in the mufflers, a lot of which is because itā€™s often driven for short distances. Itā€™s really not good to let the water stay in there from a performance or corrosion perspective; it also makes the exhaust gurgle, which sounds stupid. Iā€™d like to drill...
  15. Rear Suspension Clunking

Sedan here too. If it's suspension related, it shouldn't matter which body style it is.
  16. Rear Suspension Clunking

Unless the noise is coming from the adaptive dampers, it shouldn't be any different than the non-Si Civics.
  17. Rear Suspension Clunking

For what it's worth... it's been well under 0 degrees F here for a couple of weeks, and the car has sat outside during the day. No clunking at all.
  18. grippier tires

OP didn't specify use other than for a daily driver. I see you're in Virginia; will these be year-round tires subjected to snow and sub-freezing temps? If so, most of what has been suggested won't help you. If the car never sees snow or temps below 40, a summer tire is what you want. Personally...
  19. Rear Suspension Clunking

The solution is to not subject the car to bitter cold. Mechanical things shrink in severe cold temperatures, so there is more space between them. That space allows movement, which causes the noises being heard. If the source could be found and tightened/adjusted, it would then be too tight and...
  20. Rear Suspension Clunking

The dealer may not be able to pinpoint where the noise is coming from, but even if they do, they likely won't be able to do anything about it. Things have less compliance in exceptionally cold conditions, so there wouldn't be a solution if it's that. If it happens to be moving parts that...
